sweet sweet Nami <3
i love in One Piece whenever a deeply traumatized character tries to convince luffy that they're unlovable and that he's better off leaving them behind and that he shouldn't waste his time on them and luffys reaction every time is the most blunt "what the fuck are you talking about? are you stupid?"
i tried to draw nami but it turned out kinda messed up 0_0
monkey dunkey lunkey
Nami 💖
Goddess of lighting
HE’S MY BEST FRIEND BEST OF ALL BEST FRIENDS
On the go~
(Originally I just drew the OG trio but then I felt bad for not completing the squad so… Sanji and Usopp are there too)
(re?)帽子
Usopp really went and weaponized his depression what an icon
I think one of my favorite parts of nami’s character is like. she may not be as much of a powerhouse fighter as her crewmates, but she has a kind of fierce protective streak that rivals even luffy’s. there’s something to be said for the way she sees herself as specifically luffy’s protector, too. she looks at luffy and understands that he is trusting her to help him navigate which social rules he can keep ignoring and which ones he needs to obey and when; to know which way they need to go and what they need to do to keep the ship and crew safe. I’ve called her his replacement for pragmatism before, but it’s more than that! nami gets upset with him after Jaya and when she realizes he’s gonna make them wait 2 years bc in those moments he has made it impossible for her to protect him and she HATES that. I think it’s why she and zoro understand each other so well sometimes, especially when it comes to luffy; they’ve both built their sense of self and purpose on protection and a refusal to ever just accept a loss as inevitable, as differently as it presents in each of them.
Love that piracy in one piece is some kind of queer metaphor but like seemingly only for Luffy & crew. For everyone else it's just organised crime.
My favorite thing is when new people start One Piece after being dubious for years and they end up loving it. But they're also, like, angry they love it.
I love them
This dynamic Nami and Zoro have is one of my favorite relationships among the crew.
These two are often the most proactive about trying to solve problems for the crew, but they have very different ways of reacting to problems. So when Nami is freaked out Zoro is calm, and when Zoro loses his cool Nami is calm. This means at any given moment there will always be one person who is thinking ahead about the big picture for the crew. When both of them are calm and serious that’s when shit gets real. The fact that this balancing and mirroring is so smooth and subtle shows that despite the arguments and friction between them they also trust and respect each other a lot.
It’s hard to say if Oda wrote this dynamic because he had a certain image of what he wanted their relationship to be like, or because he simply needed someone to fill these roles within the crew. But Zoro and Nami acting as kind of emotional counterbalances to the crew, always with Luffy at the center, is part of the reason that, for me, the Original Trio is the emotional core of the series.
