My last post about this is now very outdated, so I spent some time today trying out different apps reminiscent of some favorite Nancy Drew minigames! These are all available for free on the iOS App Store, and are the ones I found to be the most satisfying to play and pleasing to look at!

what is up with these credits? Is that a code for an easter egg somewhere or did they credit an actual tagged pigeon with voicework? And Minette did the choreography for Fausto’s club?

It’s hard for me to remember that VEN is a winter game. The way the designers rendered Venice looks so summer-y plus no one is wearing coats and it’s always sunny. There’s a flower market and a gelato stand. The game emphasizes Carnevale to remind us of the time of year but the look of the environment is hard to reconcile with that knowledge. It is only here, at Nancy’s desk in River Heights, with frost on the windows and a snowman in the neighbor’s yard do I remember that the game is taking place in January.
