i think i have decided stfd is my comfort nancy drew game

if i need to have something in the background while i work i tend to pick that one as the vod of choice

even tho the general vibe is a bit eerie and i feel a bit on edge there's something comforting and magical about the clunky gameplay and the ancient graphics - i also think i enjoy that it doesn't have a huge pile of unrelated puzzles and you can genuinely follow and understand the story

best part has to be either the wonderfully edited photos or the totally monotone disinterested voice actor for william pappas

NO I LIE the best part is the ending sequence omg theres nothing more iconic on earth how could i forget

first the most hilarious slow motion running from dwayne with ralph charging behind just incredible what a perfect collision

and then the underrated genius of having ralph conveniently bent over with his hat blocking is face for his first line, and then dwayne's head positioned in front of his mouth justtttt in time for his second line

it's the equivalent of me drawing every character with their hands behind their backs as a child so i didn't have to draw hands

im sure none of this is new opinions but god i love this silly game

also so rare to see a proper confrontation/arrest before being hit with the letter so i like that a lot too

Call me paranoid but I refuse to play Hangman. Someone once manipulated me into signing something using that stupid children's game.

Seriously they had me write something nice for a "fan" by guessing the letters in the right sequence and then they gave the scrap of paper to this STALKER who--no joke-- had them leave it inside a SKULL in the CATACOMBS.. If I had a nickel for every time someone tricked me into signing something, I'd have two nickels. Not a lot but weird that it happened twice and all that.

New Year. New Screenshots.

Ok, I'm a little late to the new year, I admit, but I still have some new screenshots for you.

One piece of feedback I received on Whispers at White Oak Inn was that some of the graphics were lacking. Totally fair. If I had the time, energy, and willpower, I would go through that whole first game and revamp it. Maybe I will someday, but it is not this day.

I learned a lot on that first game, and I'm taking those new skills into making The Body at Clearwater Bay. Please enjoy these new screenshots from the game, and feel free to share any theories you come up with. 👀

in Henry's defense, he didn't demand that Nancy fly halfway around the world for his dumb wedding to someone he can barely tolerate that's being hosted in a broken-down castle, then send her out into the pitch black of night to pick flowers, knowing that she's (probably) jetlagged, just survived a car accident, there's a creepy flying ghost lady outside, oh and also: there might not even be a wedding anyway because the groom is missing!!
