does anyone else remember the very beginning of the world cup. how full of possibility and promise life seemed.

cersei forcing sansa to prove her loyalty to the lannisters by writing a letter that incriminates her (innocent) father vs ormund forcing daeron to prove his loyalty to the hightowers by executing an innocent man. manipulating them into obeying by accusing sansa of having the “traitor’s blood” vs daeron of having a “taint” in his blood that can only be cured by doing as they’re told. sansa insisting that she’s “good” and ormund assuring daeron that he’s a “good boy” (so long as he obeys). isolating them from their own families to make them easier to control. SICK!

How many times can r/ASOIAF have the same discussion about whether GRRM will “let” Sansa live or not… are you not tired of the same circlejerk of “theories” about all the ways Sansa might die and how she’s so unimportant because she’s not one of the fucking core 5 characters that her death won’t cause a ripple effect.

And every time someone points out that she’s one of the characters with most POV chapters and it would really fucking suck that this little girl who has been abused the last few years of her life and simply longed to go home and see her family again was just killed off, and that goes against George’s message of hope, they either argue that 1) He said Winds would be his darkest book yet 2) Her death has been planned all along (as if the hundred year draft didn’t have her marrying Joffrey, having his child and Jaime killing her and becoming king and that obviously doesn’t happen) or my new personal favorite 3) George places special super blame on her for Ned’s death and he won’t let her go unpunished. As if all the physical, emotional, sexual abuse, forced marriage and grooming is not enough punishment.

Oh and then they argue about how Sansa fans are deranged and you can’t have a discussion with them because they’re all self-inserting and are not mature enough to discuss the dark themes of the book (but conveniently all their faves will have a happy ending!) 🫩🙄
