Name: Nathaniel Danvers
Age: 37
Group Occupation: Guard / mediator between the Council
Face Claim: Chris Evans
Nathaniel is the oldest of the Danvers children. He had a couple of years in the spotlight, before his sister Rebekah came along. It had been quite the adjustment, based on the stories his parents would tell â but in the end he turned out to be quite the big brother, both for Rebekah and eventually, for Lily.
Nathan always thought it was interesting, and pretty hilarious, to see his parents pretend like Rebekah wasnât their favorite. If he had been any younger, he wouldâve kicked and screamed to get his rightful place in the sibling hierarchy, but he had found himself a solid friend-group, with one thing in common (sports), sure, but a solid group regardless.
After a really successful career in lacrosse while he attended high school, Nathan went off to college. He majored in Criminal Justice, got a Masters in Forensic Science, and got halfway through a PhD in Criminal Justice â all this with one goal in mind, to be part of the FBI. His parents recommended something less dangerous, something in the line of sports: he had a passion for it, and it would keep him close-ish to home. Nathan paid no mind to their recommendations, and he moved to Washington D.C. with his then girlfriend the moment he found out he had been recruited with the Bureau. With a career as competitive as that one, he knew he wouldnât be stupid enough to pass it up.
There was a lot of training involved â and truthfully, Nathan loved it. He loved the thrill, and the slight God complex being such an important part of the Law Enforcement world. It was almost like a drug to him â there were times he wouldnât talk to his Rebekah for months at a time, which he also figured was okay since she had her own strict schedule
Despite the good relationship the Danvers children had as children, Nathan found himself unable to stand the youngest one, Lily. He believed she didnât work hard enough, and was overall annoyed by her at all times. When the news reached him that she had disappeared without a trace, he kind of just shrugged his shoulders and approved the decision of hiring a private investigator. Other than that, he didnât pay much mind to the issue.
Balancing work and personal life had been a difficult task for the oldest Danvers from the moment he had signed his contract with the FBI. The girl he moved to D.C. with had left a little under a year after he started training â and Nathan continued to have a string of failed romances, because he simply wouldnât put his personal life before his work life. Many girls loved him, some even moved in with him, only to leave not very long after.
In 2020, he found out he had gotten his newest girlfriend pregnant. It came as a shock, not really a surprise. Although his own selfishness thought of all the ways he could ask her to not go through with the pregnancy. Maybe even break up with her to not give her a reason to. But Nathan did care about this woman, so he never asked anything of her. He just⊠stayed. A rare thing for him to do! And still, he did not notify his family of the news.
The news of the outbreak arrived while Nathan was on a department meeting in New York City. Nathan wasnât very worried at first â call it denial, but he began to panic when he wouldnât get an answer from his girlfriend; even more so when he traveled back home, expecting to find her there⊠only for the place to be empty. He hasnât seen of heard from her since.
It took him possibly weeks to make contact with anybody, and it was thankfully Rebekah. He pleaded for her to wait for him, to let him go with her. He tried not to show it, but it showed anyway â he was scared. But having his very capable sister, and his own knowledge for survival, made the situation a teensy bit easier to deal with.
With the group, he works as a guard, but he has other jobs he gladly attends to. While Nathan is not a member of the Council, he will jump in every so often and input his opinion with the decisions made, especially when they cannot come to a solid decision themselves. Another, and possibly his favorite job, is serving as some kind of sports coach for the children within the group. Since his future as a father has stayed in the dark since that faithful day, Nathan has found himself more drawn towards children.
Adaptable â Itâs never easy, but Nathan will always find a way to adjust himself to whatever situation gets thrown at him. Mourning is not really a part of his vocabulary, but he does try to process things in his own time.
Impartial â When it comes to the benefit of the group, Nathan is good at putting his own feelings aside. There is nothing he wants more than for these people to live a full life.
But then again, he can be selfish â Selfish in a way that he never truly thinks about how his personal decisions can / would affect the people around him. Sometimes they are for his own benefit, sometimes for his detriment.
Inflexible â It is very hard for Nathan to compromise on most things. Heâs used to his own need to be in control of everything around him, that he sometimes forgets about the others.
