Semi-Hiatus

Yeah.

So I haven’t been feeling like rping lately; you might have already noticed that. I’m not exactly sure why, but I’m not having as much fun with this currently.

I have some other stuff I want to do more right now (I want to draw more, I have regained inspiration for an old fanfic, I’m going to learn how to drive and join a hiking group), and since roleplaying is supposed to be just for fun, and I’m having more fun with other things now…

I’ll probably pop up now and then to talk to some people, and even work on some threads I really like, but it’ll be mostly inactivity from me for now on until… Well, I really don’t know.

"Oh, of course no, Professor Slughorn. I just… Wanted to practise making some potions… Like… Amortentia?"

Horace pursed his lips and waited a few seconds before speaking again. "And why Amortentia, specifically?"

He shook his head and took a swig from the bottle regardless. “No, sir. Another two years to go.” muttered the fifteen year old, not daring to look at him, rather ashamed of himself.

"But-" Horace paused mid sentence, extending his hand to Scorpius, hoping that he'd give him the bottle "I wouldn't want to take this to the headmaster, my boy."

“Of course not, Mr Slughorn.”

"Just… tidying up.”

"Well, thank you very much, but I know where I like to keep my supplies."

"...You came here for the teaching postion, isn't that it?"

"In this case, I believe I should notify Madam Pomfrey before you attempt to poison yourself."

Her arms tightened imperceptibly around her sketchpad, and she hesitated a moment before saying, “I suppose not, sir.” With some slight apprehension, she handed it to him.

At least it’s the harmless sketches, she thought, attempting to reassure herself. I could have brought the pad with the caricatures.

Horace smiled at the girl, noticing that she seemed somewhat uneasy about letting him see her sketches. He was sorry for this, but his curiosity did usually get the best of him.

Taking the notebook in his hands and flipping the pages, he looked back to the girl with a small grin in his face "You seem to be rather modest, miss Nott."

"You could speak to her and she’d probably at least try and get me to come but honestly, I’m doing all the work you want me to do and better than ninety percent of my class. I don’t understand your problem."

"It is not about grades" Horace had to suppress a sigh "It's about behaviour. And, frankly, the feeling is mutual."

"Why, of course, my boy." Horace smiled "You are welcome to speak to me whenever you'd like... Well, with a few ecxeptions. Until tomorrow, then."

Seamus grinned, following the professor anxiously. The promise of candy was always a good one. 

He deflated. “Nothing?” Seamus tilted his head to inspect the box, but no chocolate appeared.

"It seems not." Horace offered the boy a sympaththic glance. "Well, no chocolate frogs, that is."

"Easy. I want to be the Arithmancy Professor. I got an ‘O’ in the subject when I went here, and Septima Vector has been training me herself further so in the art. Now, I’m almost done with training, and Professor Vector is going to be retiring, so I figured I’d be a shoe-in for the post. But no, I’m still too young."

"You certainly are quite young." Horace pondered " ButI don't see why we can't put you to test. What did Professor Dumbledore say?"

"Not to use it, of course! I was just.. curious about how it worked… I would never want to do force someone against there will."  She gave an embarrassed laugh but shrugged. "I guess it’s the season… And, no, I don’t need the potion. More like I need something that would keep the lovesick boys away."

"Oh, then." Horace smiled "Amortentia certainly is a fascinating potion, and one that I find quite fun to prepare. It's the most potent love-potion in the world, and yet is not capable of producing real love. Its effects can be terrifying nonetheless." He sighed then, before offering the girl a knowing smile "Although, if you're interested in keeping boys at bay, this is certainly not the thing you're looking for."
