Send 🔥 for my muse to complain about the heat ( Aurélie )
August 21st, 2047 . . . There has been a heatwave in New Orleans & across the southern states for the past seven days. Something that had weathermen warning residents to stay inside as much as possible. Hope wasn't going to complain about that idea. Inside was where the AC, the ice dispenser, & the fans were. It also was home to everything that could keep her entertained for hours. It was early in the morning, around 8 a.m., when her beautiful daughter came downstairs in her bathing suit & a towel wrapped around her. Which was fine because Hope didn't mind Aurélie spending her free time in the pool on a Wednesday morning. Not if it meant staying cool.
However, as Hope stood in her kitchen making breakfast. She watched as her daughter opened & closed the sliding door more than 5 times in less than 10 minutes, grabbing things from upstairs she'd forgotten. The last time that Aurélie ran upstairs, she forgot to close the door at all. Odin help me. Hope groans as she sets down her knife, which had been cutting up pieces of watermelon to put in the fridge for later & used for the smoothie bowl she was planning to enjoy. ❝The AC is not meant to cool the outside!❞ She called after her daughter. Her husband was coming from their bedroom, freshly showered. Hope shook her head at Landon, who just gave her a knowing smile as he walked over to the fridge to grab a bottle of water before walking over to shut the sliding door before Hope could.
❝I know you can't feel it, but it is hot as hell.❞ Hope tells him. She knows that Landon can't feel the heat anymore because he triggered his phoenix side. But she has a feeling that, at one point, Landon knew what the heat felt like. His body no longer even sweated in the heat. Lucky bastard.
Aurélie comes back downstairs with her radio & a wide smile on her face as she walks over & steals a piece of fruit off the cutting board. ❝It's so hot outside.❞ She said. I wonder if you will feel the heat when you trigger the phoenix side since you are part werewolf? Hope thought before shaking it off. It was something that she didn't like to think about because triggering the vampire side or even the phoenix side meant death, even if it was temporary.
Hope wipes her hands on a clean paper towel, which is thrown away after use, before she grabs a clean bowl & the yogurt from the fridge. ❝It's so hot outside that you want to start air conditioning the outside.❞ She tells her daughter as she sets the bowl & yogurt on the countertop before fanning herself. ❝Landon, crank up that AC until it's blowing snowballs, please.❞
❝Sorry,❞ Aurélie mumbles out between bites of fruit. Slender fingers are already reaching to grab the next piece of watermelon from the cutting board. Hope was not even remotely finished cutting it up either.
Hope's not mad at her daughter for leaving the door open. Mildly annoyed, yes. More so when this wasn't the first time that she had told Aurélie about closing the doors when the AC is on. ❝It's fine. But please remember to close the door when you go back outside. But first, let me get you some breakfast.❞
