Those of you who know me well know that social media doesn't come naturally to me (or maybe you've just noticed how you can probably count on two hands all my posts across all platforms in a year). For me, I can almost never shake a feeling of disingenuousness when I post myself. This probably sounds like an excuse in this moment, but I didn't want to leave it unaddressed. Basically, social media is not my wheel house, so I try to funnel my energy in ways that I feel I am more useful.
As a lesbian, I know I would not have the guts to come out and even say that without the efforts and sacrifices of generations of black and POC members of the LGBTQ+ community before me. So, that being said, here are some resources/places to funnel your own energy.
1. Register to vote AND show up informed for elections down to the local level
2. Consider donating: Center for Black Equity - The Trevor Project - Supporting Black LGBTQ Youth Mental Health - LGBTQ Bail Fund
3. Or if you think with your stomach like me most of the time: Los Angeles Black-Owned Restaurant List Round-Up
