I read the really interesting analysis of Hector’s narrative role as a frankly mediocre fighter (his actions compared to how he’s spoken of and described) in “The Character of Hector in Homer’s Iliad” by S. Farron and how it shapes our sympathetic perception of him, as well as this excellent analysis by @spoondrifts applying that lens to Paris as well.
