bear witness. to my ascension - and my victory
i wrote a short taz/homestuck crossover back in 2018, just the IPRE crew running into Earth C, and obviously it’s not up to my current standards but i’m still not sure i’ll ever write a joke funnier than this one
right at the beginning:
and then, lup meeting terezi:
and finally, right at the end, having had a whole year to investigate:

relistening to mag 03 and i do say this every few months or so but i cannot stop thinking about how blatantly insanely obvious it is that amy patel was touched by the eye
the fact that graham can only relax when amy is near him or watching him because the stranger is stalking him and the stranger hates the eye. the fact that she was so clearly trying to ignore the way that she was getting obsessed with spying on him and the way that she could see things like the toppings on his pizza that she no way should have been able to see from across the street. the fact that the opposite of the eye is the dark and the not-them only gets graham when it realizes that it can turn the lights off so that amy can’t see. graham filling up notebook after notebook begging her to keep watching. Come on

I need to go to sleep but I am back on my bullshit with bird!Kravitz AU.
I do think it’s a situation where he does turn into a bird to use the bird bath, but he’s also Just Some Guy. It’s a fun experience. He is shoveling birdseed into his mouth with his hands when no one is looking. He does the raven rolling around in the snow thing, both as a bird and as a man.
Does he have a courtship dance? Maybe? Probably? I imagine he taps on the windows to get Taako’s attention to do the dance, only to bail at the last second out of nervousness. Taako keeps finding random shiny objects on his window sill, as well as a bunch of black feathers. This is the weirdest flirting (?) he has ever experienced. Just leave him a number, you clown.
god i still love all the exchanges between magnus and barry in crystal kingdom theyre so charming
magnus swings an axe through him twice, realizes he's incorporeal
immediately goes over to stand inside barry as a bit
barry tries to get back on track
magnus doesnt remember (or pretends not to remember) bane's attempt to poison them, exasperating barry
barry gets back on track again. a billion billion lives have been lost in the pursuit of its power.
a billion billion?
yes.
that's a lot.
it sure is.
back on track. horrifying vision of the hunger, screaming voices, planes being consumed, "whoa, hey :("
who are you?
it's not time for me to tell you that yet.
when will you tell me?
in, like, ten episodes.
okay, i'll put it in my calendar.
i can’t even think of anything silly to say here i am just thrilled to see him. hi kravitz. how are you. how have you been. it’s so funny that he just let himself into taako’s apartment when taako wasn’t home. i know that was canon already but look at him. arm over the side. sir that’s not your couch
Podcast Sexybracket Round 2: Lup vs Tim Stoker
Lup (The Adventure Zone)
Tim Stoker (The Magnus Archives)
Lup (The Adventure Zone)
Warning: Contains spoilers for TAZ.
Lup, Taako’s twin sister, is a skilled wizard, a trans woman, and a lich. A rough childhood left Lup and Taako extremely close and convinced they could only trust each other. Their circles expanded when they joined the crew of a spaceship and made several close friends, including Barry Bluejeans, Lup’s future husband. Lup is an outgoing and intelligent woman with a knack for magic who cares deeply about her loved ones.
Tim Stoker (The Magnus Archives)
Warning: Contains spoilers for TMA and a mention of suicide.
Tim Stoker was an archival assistant at The Magnus Institute. While initially a lighthearted and easygoing man who was frequently joking around with his colleagues—particularly Sasha, a close friend of his—repeated attacks by monsters, his boss stalking him, and the eventual reveal that Sasha had been murdered a while ago and replaced by a monster left him very bitter and jaded. When a monstrous Entity almost succeeds in completing a ritual that would allow it to take over the world, Tim makes a heroic sacrifice (though some would call it a suicide) to stop the Entity.

Podcast Sexybracket Round 2: Carlos the Scientist vs Taako
Carlos the Scientist (Welcome to Night Vale)
Taako (The Adventure Zone)
Carlos the Scientist (Welcome to Night Vale)
Edited from the Welcome to Night Vale fanwiki: “Carlos is a Latino scientist who arrives in Night Vale in the first episode. Unlike most of Night Vale's long time residents, Carlos is not blasé about the strange and horrible events that occur in the small town, which fascinate—and often frighten—him. Ever pursuant of answers to scientific questions, Carlos apparently has to be reminded that he needs to give more importance to his own safety and other aspects of his life.”
Taako (The Adventure Zone)
Warning: Contains spoilers for TAZ.
While Taako is initially portrayed as a flippant and at times outright mean elf without much regard for the feelings of others, it soon becomes clear that his outwardly flippant nature is hiding a very scared man, and he does have a hidden soft side. This gets explored more when he starts having romantic feelings for Kravitz, and later when the magical effect blocking his memories was removed and he remembered the existence of Lup, his twin sister. Taako is very close with his sister—and, eventually, with the other main characters (though he still probably wouldn’t admit it).

Podcast Sexybracket Round 1a: Martin Blackwood vs Juno Steel
Martin Blackwood (The Magnus Archives)
Juno Steel (The Penumbra Podcast)
Martin Blackwood (The Magnus Archives)
Warning: Contains spoilers for TMA.
Martin Blackwood was an archival assistant at The Magnus Institute. Though his boss Jon initially viewed him as inept and bumbling, Martin ended up proving to be both very brave and very capable, playing a pivotal role in many key moments of the plot. As Jon and Martin got to know each other better, Jon’s opinion of him shifted, and he eventually developed romantic feelings for Martin. The feelings were mutual, and he and Martin started a romantic relationship that was only slightly hampered by the advent of the apocalypse.
Juno Steel (The Penumbra Podcast)
Edited from The Penumbra Podcast fanwiki: “Juno Steel is a private eye whose best quality is making enemies. He is bisexual and nonbinary. Juno idolizes the idea of being a hero, of being able to ‘do good’. He thinks that if he tried to help other people, maybe he’d be able to stop himself from hurting them. He considers himself the hero of his own story, the protagonist, the one who has to be better than the bad guys in order to win. However, this need to help other people also feeds into his self-destructive tendencies. Juno is frequently reckless, throwing himself in harm's way if it means that someone else won’t get hurt.”

which classic podcast ship would win?
taakitz (the adventure zone)
cecilos (welcome to night vale)
jonmartin (the magnus archives)
jupeter (the penumbra podcast)
NOTES:
-this is not about which one you like best. it is about, if these eight people were put in an arena together to fight to the death, which pair would be victorious
-they have access to any abilities and weapons that they used during the podcast. anything that they have used, they can use.
-may the best men win 🫡
and the results are in. congrats cecilos. now i will tell 79% of you why you're wrong. (DISCLAIMER: THIS IS JOKES. im kidding. this could not matter less)
i'm almost positive that jon died at least once. cecil probably hasn't died but he definitely should have. of course kravitz could just send everyone to the astral plane anyway, but i don't think he would. this eliminates taakitz's main competitors. to be fair to jupeter, they are both experienced and skilled killers. they could probably take out carlos and martin. carlos might be able to do some science bullshit but afaik he hasn't used any weapons. martin might have a knife but he's never actually killed anyone. so maybe jupeter would be able to make it past jonmartin and cecilos. but gun vs fireball? knife vs the literal grim reaper? absolutely not. no way they're getting out of this one. thanks for coming to my ted talk
Out in the holy halls and clandestine chapels of the Vatican, the church fathers say it clearly: “There is no such thing as a ghost.” But I have my doubts.
They have poured over the scripture and from it derived dogma, it’s true. They are right to say that Hebrews 9:27 declares that man is destined to die once and after that to face judgement. And Luke does tell us that when the rich man looked up from Hell at the spirit of Abraham and begged him to visit the living and warn them of the cost of greed, Abraham said that a great chasm separated Heaven from everything else.
But the church fathers say something else too. When they are not assuring us that the dead are gone to live with the Father forever, when they are not gesturing toward veils and promising that graves dug deep cannot be undone, when they are not reducing every spiritual encounter to angels or demons with no room for anything in between, they say something else: “Do not try to contact the dead.”
Now, I find that peculiar, don’t you? Is there were no such thing as a ghost, if the wall between this world and the next were so firm, so impermeable that those who passed could never return, then there would be no harm in trying to make that connection. I know, I know, 2 Corinthians 11, even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light– yes, there is a chance that those who wish to contact the dead would reach out to hell instead.
But, and I know I risk my collar for saying what I am about to say: Bluff City needs to be realistic. Instead of pretending that no one will attempt to reach across that dark chasm, we need professionals ready for whatever happens when they inevitably do.
I transcribed this to convince y’all to listen to Bluff City from the Friends At The Table podcast. Five bucks on Patreon. Endlessly worthwhile.
I don’t care if you never listen to Friends at the Table but you owe it to yourself to listen to these two minutes.
