This is random but I actually like the second version of the Fenhawke hook up scene. Something about Fenris just stomping into Hawke's house half-crazed because he can't stop thinking about them is very hot.
exact recreation of what happens literally every time you make a not-evil decision in early DAO

He doesn’t want me at all — just the markings on my skin. They are lyrium, burned into my flesh to provide the power that Danarius required of his pet. And now, he wishes his precious investment returned. Even if he must rip it from my corpse. Seems like a waste of a perfectly handsome elf.
Time to LOCK IN *falls asleep*
every major structural social problem right now is basically "we don't have enough skilled workers on the ground" and the reason is always "well we've been intentionally underpaying and understaffng them for decades to increase corporate profits" and somehow the news always just mentions the "shortage" without digging into the cause
air travel is a mess? shortage of air traffic controllers - for some mysterious reason
logistics a mess? shortage of truck drivers - for some mysterious reason
public transit can't meet demand? shortage of bus drivers - for some mysterious reason
We even mysteriously have shortages of doctors, nurses, teachers... FOR SOME MYSTERIOUS REASON
FUCKING PAY PEOPLE AND HIRE ENOUGH STAFF
Yes and: Make education more affordable and achievable!!
The destruction of public and higher education and the degradation and subjugation of workers has been an active part of conservative policy for more than fifty years.
Related: when conservatives say "no one wants to work anymore", what they mean is "no one wants to give up a substantial portion of the fruits of their labor in order to enrich an idle capital-holding class".
One of my favorite things about Fenris as a character is his loyalty. Let me explain. We know that Fenris has betrayed loyalty before ( a la the fog warriors) and this haunts him. So I think it's fair to say that he carries that guilt with him for the rest of forever and consequently also takes his loyalty to Hawke and friends MUCH more seriously. I think this is most seen in his romance where he walks away from Hawke romantically but he remains as a friend, as a companion, and support. He has no interest in really leaving. But the thing I think is missed sometimes is that banter convo he has with Sebastian regardless of whether or not you romance him but you have to have merrill in the party. Sebastian mentions that they are duty bound to tell the templars about Merrill and Anders. Sebastian implies he would rather the templars come to it on their own because he'd rather not turn in his friends (tho I guess is okay with the idea of them being arrested --but that's another side tangent) but if Merrill is in the party you get this:
Merrill: Are you talking about me?
Sebastian: Which of us should do it? Shall we draw lots?
Fenris: Uh-uh. You want to turn them in, you work it out with Hawke.
Fenris refuses, outright. He doesn't like Merrill or Anders. BUT. His loyalty to Hawke is such that he accepts the humanity in two people, two mages, he actively dislikes simply because Hawke does. I just think it's this lovely nuanced part of his character where two things are true at once. He does not like Merrill or Anders but he trusts Hawke--and not only is that enough for him but he seems aware of that duality. I think it takes on an extra layer of meaning if Hawke is also a mage. But I just think it shows a depth and potential for growth within Fenris that is really significant. I think it shows an awareness of his own trauma, that he may not always be the best judge of mages or of character in general which signifies not only an ability to grow (because personally I headcannon that Fenris and Merrill eventually become close friends--and he and anders at least get on better terms) but also the particular importance of Hawke in his mind. I don't have an ending point here, I just think he's neat.
the way that dragon age 2 really is just a series of increasingly worse tragedies culminating in anders doing what he does.....
also something about the inevitability of it all. you are going to lose your home and become a refugee in a foreign nation. you can do nothing to stop this. bethany or carver is going to die before you get out. you can do nothing to stop this. you are going to lose your remaining sibling. you can do nothing to stop this. you are going to lose your mother. you can do nothing to stop this. isabela is going to run off with the relic. you can do nothing to stop this. the arishok is going to attack your city. you can do nothing to stop this. anders is going to blow up the chantry. you can do nothing to stop this.
maybe you can do the right thing, pick the right choices, forge strong enough relationships to help mitigate some of the damage from these things, but they are going to happen. you can do nothing to stop them.
zevran. nothing more nothing less.
The implications of the Inquisitor romancing Cullen is actually really funny if you think about it.
Like here is Orlais vying for gossip and scandal and lo and behold - a Fereldan man of no title or renown is apparently romantically involved with the Inquisitor and is the literal Commander of their army. That looks atrocious from the outside. What is he, some kind of upstart? I can only imagine the Orlesian court envisioning Cullen as this suave Casanova who is sleeping his way to the top and manipulating some of the most powerful people in Thedas to get where he is and when they meet him he’s literally just some guy.
“He’s using the Inquisitor to gain rank” and it’s a man that runs away from women and can’t flirt to save his life. Yeah that’s the master game player guys
some doods of the inquisition-era dao gang
