it's not natural for candy to be $3.49. candy is supposed to be one dollar
candy should cost a nickel and we should all wear little propeller hats when we eat it

I think this is the funniest 404 error page I’ve seen
“I hope you’re hungry… for nothing!” Give me my stuffed marshmallows you freak
For anybody not caught up: Tennessee just passed a new map that pretty much makes it so black neighborhoods have no power in local votes. Two things about this. While protestors were chanting "No Jim Crow", white Tennessee lawmakers were caught laughing on video. On top of this, Representative Justin Pearson and his brother KeShaun Pearson were arrested for trying to give their takes on the matter (which is not only their legal right but literally his job). If you give a shit about black people, help fight this. We can't allow a return to Jim Crow.
Heyyy guess where I live
A local paper had some great photographs, all taken by Nicole Hester:
The day before, Rep. Justin Pearson tries to attend a Senate Committee meeting and is barred access by the Sergeant at Arms.
Lawmakers and protesters link arms as the descend the capitol steps.
Once inside the chamber, Democratic representatives continued to stand together with arms linked.
They continued standing together with arms linked as votes were cast.
Democratic representatives take a group photo protesting the redistricting.
Rep. Justin Jones burns a photo of the Confederate flag with the words, We will not go back.
And stomps the ashes.
KeShaun Pearson being escorted from the building by the Staties.
KeShaun Pearson (left) being taken into custody. Rep. Justin Pearson (right) showing his support of his brother.
Additional information: State lawmakers have been gunning for Pearson and Jones nearly their entire terms. Most notably, in 2023, the House expelled them for participating in a protest at the Capitol. Their districts had to have special elections to have them reinstated.
Pearson is one of the plaintiffs of a lawsuit seeking an injunction against the redistricting.
The city most affected by the redistricting is Memphis, where locals are fighting against xAI's data center, which has been operating with very little oversight and is poisoning the people who live there. Here is a previous post on that with more information and more sources.
I wish I had this hat
hey yall, wanted to update that tumblr alerted me that the mature tag was removed from my gifset which was unexpected because i don’t think they even read my appeals for the ones all over my art.
ironically? the first time they removed a mature tag (on an ask i received) was after i mentioned it in a different post i made that got 11k notes meaning someone from staff definitely saw it and presumably removed it the tag.
this leads me to believe that they 10000% know this is a bigger problem than they let on because the only two times they have removed mature tags on my posts about black women and girls, was when i, or someone else, mentioned it with receipts on a post that got thousands of notes.
idk what’s worse? knowing this system targets certain people and still using it bc it’s cheaper or whatever than any real moderation.. or only stepping in and changing it when enough people complain. not sure how i feel about either.
unfortunately the union i was in had a pretty boring logo but one of the shirts i got from them had some cartoon picketers on the front and the back said “I will never betray my union and I will never betray my class” and i was like well THAT’S hard as fuck. so i cut it out and sewed it to the back of a battle vest.

"my mutual unfollowed me but i didn't like them very much so sometimes things work out"
in real life my hairdresser who has never once cut my hair correctly asked me to stop seeing him after i yelled at him for telling me he likes to call the cops on black women who advertise that they braid hair
level up, dump people from your circle IN THE FLESH
my dad is very intensely involved a battle with his city’s public administration over a playground they have tried to forcibly remove like five times in the past 20 years and DID remove once in like 2005 but then had to rebuild because my dad was such a pain in their asses and came through with undeniable receipts of the zoning plan from the 60s/the historic/cultural value of the urban planning…. like there’s a woman in the city office who is his arch nemesis. he is literally the daredevil of urban planning
everyone in the tags needs to stop saying they want to fuck my dad.
sorry everyone was so unconscionable in the replies that we'll never get an update because i need to know what is wrong with this playground that it's been such a liability for 20 years
i have been in a struggle with my county because they keep forgetting to budget for a drinking fountain at the skatepark and it's nothing but asphalt and concrete at that park so it's hotter than every other park (that already has a drinking fountain!) and a danger
i had to physically restrain two guys on the advisory committee from getting up from a meeting to go to Home Depot and get the materials to install one themselves after the third "whoopsies wait until next year i guess" response from officials
Living and working in L.A. was like this
You ask "What did you do this weekend?" and most of the time get a response like "nothing much" Some days the response is "I officiated Taylor Swift's wedding"
And you say "Oh, how was that" in the same way for both responses

@caesarsaladinn I had a whole discussion with a history major who was extremely confident that smallpox is a “common childhood illness” with a very low death rate. Therefore, she believed that historical smallpox outbreaks were either massively exaggerated or used as a cover-up for something else (since “smallpox isn’t that bad.”) I eventually asked if she was possibly confusing smallpox with chickenpox, at which point she said, “aren’t they the same thing?”
you're not allowed to be a historian if you're a fucking idiot
