Scrapped chapter 5 dialogue
my tag has never felt more viable
Hey Toby, what the fuck.
he's been here the whole time
I'm going to be so real... I think TADC ep 9's handling of Jax isn't great
I started it joking to my friends like "I hope everyone dies" but like
I kind of think that would've been better than this? /hj
I don't know, it sort of felt hollow. We've now established that Jax has multiple victims, who never got nearly enough time to be explored in a meaningful way, we know that Jax themself was dealing with a lot of issues, and I have sympathy for that, but we learned it when it was too late to do anything. Basically, it's a double problem where I have sympathy for both Jax and the people they hurt, but the bulk of it has now been introduced when they're already essentially dead.
Jax being trans is now essentially canon. If someone denies that, there's no way they watched the same show I just did. I'll use gender neutral pronouns for them because we don't know what their actual preference would've been, but yeah, it's pretty glaringly obvious. I'm glad that it's canon, but I also feel like the time at which we heard any of this is weird, and it doesn't sit with me right.
Abstraction seems to be an allegory for suicide. It's what makes the most sense with the points at which different characters abstract, and the reasons that trigger it. With that said, Jax is essentially a victim of suicide, and I feel really weird about everything that went on around it. They essentially keep Jax like a dog in abstracted state, everyone seems to be unambiguously happier when Jax isn't around. They address so many personal parts of Jax when they're already gone. I was thinking when Pomni went into Jax's mind(?) to speak to them one last time that she was going to pull them out somehow, that they would get a second chance at addressing some of their mistakes, but that just straight up doesn't happen.
I may be pessimistic, but it sort of just feels like a story about a trans person struggling with mental illness, genuinely hurting people, and killing themselves, with not very much weight given to their absence?
I don't want to shame people who liked this finale. Please, if you did like it, give your opinions or counter my points because I want to hear what everyone else is thinking. I just personally left it with a bit of unease and dissatisfaction.
Like, really. Gangle and Ribbit were both at the receiving end of a lot of abuse at the hands of Jax, and it feels like it's hardly explored. I really wanted to hold out hope that we'd get these things addressed in a more satisfactory way, hence why I haven't talked about it until now, but now that we have it all...
I really do like Jax as a character, and again, I have a lot of sympathy, but what they did to all those people isn't excusable, it isn't okay, and it can't just be brushed away
The worst sin the finale committed was naming Jax Leroy.
Cracked so many eggs that I didn’t realize I was in one myself
Fanfic trope twist idea:
“ok here’s our room uh… could you stay out of here for like one second”
“ok?”
*door opens and clicks* *rough scuffle in the room and the sounds of matches and fire* *door opens*
“ok come in”
*very obvious pile of ash in the middle of the room*
“agh oh no there are two beds but only one blanket I guess that means we’ll have to shared a bed so that we can stay warm…….”
“Did you burn the blanket-“
“no!”

Why is it that when I’m shutting down my computer I have to say “shutdown now”! Like why do I have to dom my computer into turning off
Why can’t the computer be the dom like “ok dom-puter could you like pretty please shutdown on me~ I need this update to install~” and then the computer could be like “oh I don’t know have you been a good Linux user?” And then I could say “oh yes dom-puter I made sure to use Firefox on my phone as well not just you~” and then the dom-puter would say “ok shutting down baby~”
Why is it that when I’m shutting down my computer I have to say “shutdown now”! Like why do I have to dom my computer into turning off
I might as well own a chicken with how many eggs I’m cracking.

What is your favorite obscure media and why do you like it?
Lobotomy Corporation is probably my current third favorite videogame (after silksong and expedition 33) and it’s a really fun monster management game with very cool mechanics. It’s also insanely difficult though so be warned. I really like the character designs as well, both employees and abnormalities (the quote en quote SCPs). I’ve heard it being called the Capitalist SCP Foundation and that checks. Overall it’s a really fun media with a compelling story and tough but really interesting gameplay.

*breathing intensifies* CAMP HERE AND THERE it is such a good podcast audio drama that has such a fun and quirky sense of dark and whimsical wacky humor while also telling a very emotional story about how people take away autonomy from disabled people while also weaving in the intersectional marginalizations of the characters to show why it is that some characters have power over others, and it’s all told alongside these beautiful and yet often wild and unhinged metaphors as well as using metaphors for things within the show as well as literally showcasing them (why have just a metaphor for mental illness when you can make characters with metaphors for it and also give it to characters literally yaaay and with many more things) and it has an amazing cast of side characters who I love as well as amazing queer representation especially of ways people present their identities that many people do not understand, but it’s not made into a big deal in the podcast (although it does play into the subtext as to why certain characters are given power over others) and it’s so delightfully morbid and I love camp here and there!
I do hope that counts as obscure enough, no to no pressure tag some of my moots even though many of them already know the wonders of Camp Here And There: @illiviestrations @citrinemaples @mysteriouslynervousdeer @sleepyorchidmonster @mamorukimura @404itcannotbeseen @ucallmetroy @m3mentto-m0rii @elephantsmuse @rainesol @atomicraft @evexe @child-of-frey @sillyslipperybananapeel @sillysillysalem @glassanomaly @facelessdeer @cicadabee @bellefromhelle @omneshroom @shinikamo @evil--tommy

I can't really say if I have a favorite obscure piece of media, there are a lot of things with very niche audiences that I love. For example, I stumbled across this animation a few months ago, when it had just been uploaded. It's very nicely animated, it has a lovely art style, and I think about it frequently.
