Hi, how are you? Since I'm in the mood for angst...do you know the musical Hamilton?
There is this line, " Forgivness, can you imagine?" And I can't stop to think about it, for Bruce and his children.
Bruce for years asking forgiveness but never had it, till he stop, and then are the children asking for it, but they are not sure they coulde have it. Not after what they have done.
Too much too soon vs too little too late.
Bruce telling Ollie about the stars :)
Little something-something inspired by A Love Lost, But Not Forgotten by @occasionalauthoring
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD THEY'RE SO CUTE
Look at his smile
Ollie don't give a fuck about the stars he's looking at his mannnn
DUDE
Reread UTRH and how did I miss the tears in Jason’s eyes when he’s begging Bruce to choose? He just wanted to lay his demons to rest. He just wanted to be avenged. To be allowed to avenge himself even if Bruce can’t cross that line.
Like actual literal tears! Jason was begging!! T_T
sometimes i feel like peole in batfam fandom are not as obsessed about the batarang to the scene as i'd expected them to be.
like, why? how come every fic is like "so THAT happened. anyways... jason reintegrates into the fam yay !" like come on... wheres the spice. wheres the angst,.. wheres the treasure horde of headcanons... where are the innumerable fanfics....? what... i mean i think ive read all the possible fics i could of that scene and yet. its less. i feel. considerably less with respect to the fandom size.
i just dont get it. why? is it cos yall dont like it? the whole scene? is it like a unanimous agreement that bcos it shows batman as a bad father/ambiguous morality yall dont fw it? or is it bcos it tchnically leaves very few routes open for further plot?
i want an explanantion from someone who doesnt find that scene intriguing bcos im so lost. i want a new opinion on this.
bcos its been like a year almost and im still obsessed with the entirety of that scene.
Not gonna lie, Jason is kind of... Pathetic in the early days of his comeback, which is very different from how the fandom portrays him (as in the right, supported by everyone but Bruce, doing great for himself) The boy is obsessed with Bruce, to a point that it is pathetic. Everything he does is to harm Bruce (see Green Arrow: Seeing Red where he attacks the Arrowfam just to hurt his dad), and when it's not, he keeps bringing him up all the time.
Just, let's take a look at Countdown to Final Crisis.
He keeps using Bruce to paint himself as strong (Pointing out to people he was trained by Batman. Comparing people he is fighting against as less strong than Batman and because he was trained by Batman, he can beat them...), HOWEVER:
- He keeps telling people that he is his own man, and not a sidekick anymore, but like, NOBODY called him a sidekick. He is the one bringing it up all the time, bringing up that he is Batman's son.
- He keeps trying to paint Bruce as bad, to the point that when he is faced with the reality that Bruce couldn't kill the Joker and Jason was wrong, he blames Bruce. Literally, he cannot be satisfied, it doesn't matter if Bruce killed the Joker or not, that Jason had the proof that it would harm Bruce, it's never good enough for him.
And here, it's the cherry on top. When face with another version of the Crime Syndicate, Kyle explains to them who they are: an evil version of the Justice League. Immediately, Jason is like "Owlman is Bruce", because Bruce must be bad! But not only is he wrong, we learn that there is a commissioner Wayne in this universe, which is probably Bruce. And Owlman bringing up Bruce to Jason also means something else: he recognized Jason as someone Bruce cares about, meaning Jason is also still Bruce's son in this universe. So, Jason is shown he is wrong again, that even in a universe were the JL is evil Bruce is a good guy, and that in every universe, they are father and son.
The only universes where they are not together are the universes where Bruce killed the Joker, and Bruce became a serial killer (yes even if he kills vilains, he is still a serial killer), and the main universe, where Jason is the one who kills and is borderline a rogue.
So, yeah, sorry, he is kind of pathetic to me. He wants to be his own man, but he keeps using his dad to make himself look intimidating. He has insane expectations for Bruce, as he doesn’t accept any outcome (see: killing Joker or not killing Joker, Jason is never satisfied). And he refuses to put himself and his viewpiont into questions, his father must be the bad guy, even when he is shown multiple times he is not. And Jason clearly loves Bruce, as shown by how ready he is to get back to work with him in the universe where he killed the Joker (mind you, this violent Bruce threatened to kill him), and how devasted he is when this Batman is killed in front of him. Even though his Batman did not appear at all through the whole story, Jason is always thinking about him, to the point that Jason's last appearance in the story (the first page shown here) is still him being like "Bruce is crazy" and calling the man a "faux hero", even after Batman did save the day in this universe (in parallel to this story), was called a hero by most people he interacted with (Kyle, Jason from the other dimension, ...) and was a good man and a "hero" (ACAB but 100% the writer made Bruce commissioner because cops are heroes in their eyes, or some shit) in the other universes where he didn't act like Jason wants him to.
No, Crime Alley doesn’t need a vigilante like Red Hood. In fact, Jason Todd’s approach is exactly what Gotham must avoid to break free from its cycle of crime and despair.
I've seen increasing rhetoric amongst Batfamily spaces that Jason Todd's approach to ruling Crime Alley with an iron fist is the preferable one. He's been painted as some sort of hero for perpetuating violence and controlling the drug trade instead of dismantling it, as seen here:
user iheartdeadmen79 on tiktok:
Contrary to popular fan rhetoric, Batman doesn’t avoid Crime Alley. He confronts its darkness, honoring his parents’ memory and striving to improve the lives of its residents.
Batman frequently patrols Crime Alley, protecting its people from gangs and criminals ("Just Another Kid on Crime Alley!"). His mere presence is a deterrent to crime and a reminder that justice exists.
As Bruce Wayne, he addresses the root causes of Crime Alley’s plight. Through the Wayne Foundation, he funds infrastructure projects, clinics, scholarships, and other resources that empower the community (Detective Comics #457).
Batman collaborates with figures like Leslie Thompkins, whose clinic provides healthcare and shelter to Gotham’s most vulnerable. Together, they tackle crime at its roots—poverty, neglect, and systemic injustice.
Batman’s approach is about more than fighting criminals; it’s about building a foundation for a better future.
Jason Todd’s Red Hood represents the antithesis of progress. His iron-fist approach perpetuates the very cycles of violence he claims to stop.
In "Batman: Under the Red Hood", Jason attempts to take over Gotham’s underworld, including parts of Crime Alley, by using lethal force. This creates power vacuums, incites gang wars, and leads to collateral damage among innocent civilians.
Jason targets criminals but ignores the systemic issues driving crime. Killing gang leaders may seem effective, but it does nothing to address the poverty and lack of opportunity fueling the problem.
Residents of Crime Alley already distrust authority. Jason’s violent reputation only worsens this, making him seem like another dangerous figure instead of a protector.
Jason’s “kill to prevent crime” mentality sends a harmful message. It glorifies violence as the only solution to complex social issues, desensitizing the community to brutality and ensuring the next generation grows up in the same cycle of trauma.
The Bigger Problem: Romanticizing Red Hood
Here’s the uncomfortable truth: much of the fandom romanticizes Jason Todd’s methods without critically examining their consequences. Posts praising Red Hood for “taking control” or “cleaning up Crime Alley” ignore how his actions destabilize the community, alienate the people he claims to help, and perpetuate the very violence he fights against.
Jason isn’t a hero for Crime Alley—he’s a cautionary tale. By normalizing his ideology, fans risk promoting a toxic mindset that equates justice with unchecked power. Crime Alley doesn’t need fear and bloodshed. It needs hope, investment, and the belief that change is possible.
Batman embodies the hard, often thankless work of building a better Gotham. Red Hood, though well-intentioned, embodies the dangers of quick fixes and violent rule. Gotham, and especially Crime Alley, doesn’t need more fear. It needs heroes who understand that real change comes from compassion, collaboration, and addressing root causes—not from perpetuating the same cycles of pain.
Fans need to move past the idea that Jason Todd’s methods are heroic. They’re not. They’re destructive. If we want Gotham to heal, it’s time to embrace hope, not more violence.
And I do know that the creator of the Tiktok I mentioned wrote their POV off as just being fanon, yet because it isn't explicitly stated in the caption and you have to dive into the comment section to even figure it out, it perpetuates the idea that this is how things actually are in canon, instead of being something fans with no real idea about social issues made up to praise their favorite white guy of the month.
Gender non-conforming Bruce (however you want that to be) being asked for help by J'onn, who feels trapped by the rigid gender structures on Earth.
There hasn’t been a major reported crime in Gotham in just over a year.
The world never needed Bruce Wayne, and now, Gotham has no need for The Batman.
The JL still need the money he brings in for them, but it’s easy enough to set up a funnel for that.
Gotham (and the world as a whole) have never needed Bruce Wayne. The Justice League (and his family) have no need for The Batman anymore.
There is only one conclusion to come to with these findings, Bruce knows.
(aka, after Gotham becomes the city that Bruce (and his parents) anyways knew it could be, Bruce decides he’s ready to see his parents again.)

I love it!
For some reason it reminds me of this, even if they're a bit different

Look, this might be a strange aks, but please bear with me here!
Bruce and Batman are different people, twin brothers in this case
Bruce is the guy who appears the most, the rich guy who doesn't think before acting but has a huge heart. Bruce is the more reclusive guy, who overthinks but always has great advice
Everyone thinks they behave so differently because each of them deals with the grief of losing their parents in different ways.
The Batkids have always seen his father and uncle getting along relatively well (Brucie doesn't like the idea of his brother and sons being vigilantes, but he trusts his brother to take care of them). But there are times when they fight badly
I'd love to read about one of those fights and the Batkids witnessing it
I would also love to read about one of their fights, but I think my interpretations of Bruce and Batman are too entwined to write it properly.
au where everyone thinks batman isn’t human, they have a betting pool on what he is, everyone is trying to figure it out, but no, bruce in just a neuro spicy, not able to get his brain to speak human while in mask, emo, introvert. all four of those, emo, introverted, lil neuro spicy, and near physically incapable of speaking human while in the mask. bonus points if he is unaware they don’t think he’s human, but also by the time he finds out his introvert brain says he absolutely cannot tell them because he is dying of mortification and embarrassment inside.
Like that crack series on ao3, but through the lens of social ableism and the innate dehumanisation of neurodiverse/mentally ill people...which might actually be worse in an environment welcoming to non-humans, actually.
Interesting.
maybe this is too woke but i really hate the trope of naked older women = scary or vomit inducing or gross or whatever. like you even see it used in horror on occasion like oooooo so scary theres a woman with saggy boobs and wrinkles. There is something to be said for unconsensual veiwing of nudity. sure. it’s uncomfortable and violating for someone to be nude in front of you that you don’t want to see. but rarely that’s seen as the issue and instead the real ‘horror’ or gross out joke is the very idea of a woman who does not have a body that is sexually desirable to men. The very idea of an older woman’s body is treated like it’s something that we should all know is gross, sick and wrong. It’s just something that really bothers me
The rule could have heavy impacts towards trans people across society.
Last week, the Trump administration quietly released a sweeping new federal rule that would use funding threats to force institutions across the country to reject transgender people. The 400-page proposed regulation would codify the administration's anti-trans executive orders into binding federal policy, imposing a blanket prohibition on federal funds going toward "gender ideology"
The proposed rule, formally titled "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance," rewrites the government-wide framework governing all federal grants across every agency. Among its most consequential provisions, it requires that before a federal grant recipient can receive money, the award must pass a "pre-issuance review" conducted by a political appointee—not a career expert or peer reviewer—to ensure it is "consistent with applicable law, Federal agency priorities, and the national interest." The regulation explicitly instructs these appointees to screen for "denial by the recipient of the sex binary in humans or the notion that sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic." [...] An institution that acknowledges transgender people exist—through its policies, its training, its healthcare, its bathroom access, its HR procedures, its name-change processes—could be deemed to "deny the sex binary" or to “support the notion that sex is mutable” and have its federal funding blocked.
Importantly, the gender ideology prohibition has no age limitation—hospitals could be targeted not just for providing care to minors but for providing gender-affirming care to adults, because prescribing hormone therapy to a transgender patient of any age could be deemed promoting the belief that "sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic."
THIS IS OPEN TO COMMENT UNTIL JULY 13, 2026
This is all very bad and horrible, but I want to be clear that it’s worse and more sweeping than just eliminating trans research.
This torches everything. And I do mean everything.
A very abbreviated list of its ramifications include (but are not limited to):
ending funding for ALL DEI related initiatives
allowing the government to terminate grants at any point for any reason
preventing researchers from publishing, going to conferences, and being part of academic societies
requiring that topics must support the president’s agenda.
What this means, and if anything I’m under selling it, is the death of science and research in America. It allows the government to restrict any topic they please at a whims notice, putting officials who have no background in the topic in charge of deciding funding continuity. It controls what gets researched and if/how researchers are allowed to share their discoveries. There are no books to burn if the government never allows them to be written. This is fascism plain and simple.
Please, if you only ever write one public comment, this is the one to do.
Bringing back this guide to writing an effective public comment. This gives you the basics you need to know, what you need to include, a basic outline you can follow, etc.
Public comments are not a vote, it is a chance for you to say "here is an issue with this law I think you need to address" and provide justification for legal challenges if it goes forward:
"Comments raise the bar that agencies have to meet when making a rule; “if an agency fails to adequately respond to significant, relevant comments in a final rule, members of the public may seek to challenge the rule in court on that basis and claim it could be struck down.ˮ"
But also, if possible, don't stop at writing a comment. Don't stop at calling your representatives. You should ideally be talking to people in your community about this and organizing resistance on-the-ground; there is a good chance people are already doing that even if you aren't hearing about it.
Some added 101-level context from someone (me) who’s worked in federal grantmaking for 20 years and is literally certified on this document - this is a document that governs all federal grantmaking. It’s been around for over a decade and is a mega-document that combine multiple previous smaller documents that have been around for ages. It is updated every few years and generally the updates are minor - a notable change in the previous update was raising the small procurement threshold from $10,000 to $15,000 for example. Deeply dry boring minutiae that no one outside of federal grantmakers need concern themselves with. It was also federal GUIDELINES, which means there was flexibility.
This year’s is different. They are now federal REQUIREMENTS, which means there’s no flexibility. As was said previously, the 400 pages are not singularly devoted to being absolute shitheads to trans people. Theres a lot of stuff in there, some of which is the standard dry boring grants stuff, some of which is the horrible ideological warfare outlined above.
This document is issued by the OMB, the Office of Management and Budget, which is currently lead by fucking Russell Vought, the principal architect of Project 2025. This is how they’re going to implement all the horrible shit in there that wasn’t covered by Executive Order. Russell Vought is actively coming for my job, my marriage, and my kid, and most of my friends lost their jobs last year because of him. He is the fucking arch villain behind the heinous shit the current regime is doing.
So yes, please comment. You don’t have to read all 400 pages before doing so, it’s dry and dense as fuck, but I thought this information might be helpful. Also, while there is a public comment period, this isn’t voted on by Congress. The OMB just fucking issues it. Pressuring your elected officials into publicly saying “hey what the fuck are you doing here” is good, though.
Please note the comment period is open through JULY 13th, not JUNE 13th. I saw a lot of relogs yesterday saying "last day!" and I just want to say it is very much not too late.
As of today, 7/8/26, we have five days for public commentary on this to go through. I am begging y'all: if you care about independent science in the country that produces the most global science funding in the world, please leave a comment.
Deadline is July 13, 2026.

prompt incoming: how do you feel about bruce getting addicted to painkillers? i know bruce and addiction is an explored topic, but hear me out.
so, there's been a JL mission. a huge one, every main member onboard. during the fight, bruce gets hurt badly. coma-level-of-badly. when he wakes up, he needs immense painkillers to even manage breathing normally for a day or two. and for the first time in... decades, bruce has no pain. not physically, but what's most importantly; not mentally either. a soft pillow has been pressed over every issue chewing at his brain at all times – fights with his kids, insecurities, suicidal thoughts – leaving him blissfully fuzzy and calm. when the meds wear out, it comes rushing back like a truck. when dismissed from the watchtower medbay, bruce gets a few to take when needed, but only if necessary. but life happens. bruce's extraordinary life with rogues and kids happens. and replicating the medication with what's available in the bat cave was simply too easy.
and then. you know. consequences ensue.
– anon of melons
I'm not sure I could write it, because it is a topic that needs to be handled so sensitively, and just writing smalls scenes that touch on addiction make me fret, because I don't want to misrepresent anything.
But so long as people gave a cushion for Bruce, a support system to recovery, I think it would be a very good read.
Even more so if it isn't perfect. It's not some inspiration porn for addicts, but Bruce falters. He takes the drugs again. He's a dick, he argues and fights against getting help. His recovery being framed as a journey, not a switch to flip.
But yeah even saying that makes me feel like I'm tapdancing on eggshells. I would 100% read though, would be such a good thing to see an exploration of his character through the lens of addiction/addictive personalities.
It's a fine day for angst as is everyday
So there's this teacher that is loved by a lot of people in my level rn who's very good at what he does but only shows his hands in his lectures as he writes and a few months back he announced that he couldn't continue posting lectures because he has a problem with his nerves and has to undergo surgery ( very serious one) anyway- now I'm rewatching his older lectures that he filmed 7 months ago and I- couldn't help but notice how many mistakes he made writing and how many times his hands slipped it got worse throughout the lectures and I got so sad about how none of us (200k student) even noticed it , he's fine now so I won't feel bad for using this for angst
So! this but Bruce , someone whose every movement is recorded and seen by a large group of people going through something so tangible and so obvious yet no one noticed
I've been thinking about Bruce with chronic migraines, what about that?
Utterly debilitating, yet he has no choice to go and do presswork, board meetings, JL briefs, recitals, practices, missions, patrol.
He can't falter.
Until he does.
Until he pushes himself to the brink of what his body can handle, then some, and it nearly kills him. And he's finally forced to stop, to slow down, and while everyone supports him, helping him find his footing in this new reality where he has to accept these migraines and work with his body, his circle is consumed by guilt, because going back and looking, hindsight is a cursed thing. It was so obvious he was in pain. And none of them noticed until it was too late, and he permanently took away a level of function from his arsenal.
