Male socialization is such an evil rhetoric. Yeah I guess not transitioning at the age of 5 is my fault and I'm evil for it. Yeah I guess not having the childhood I wish I did means I'm a danger and I should perpetually apologize for it
"The fact that socialization is a specious argument became obvious to me during an exchange I had with a trans-woman-exclusionist who insisted that my being raised male was the sole reason in her mind for me to be disqualified from entering women-only spaces. So I asked her if she was open to allowing trans women who are anatomically male but who have been socialized female — something that’s not all that uncommon for MTF children these days. She admitted to having concerns about their attending. Then, I asked how she would feel about a person who was born female yet raised male against her will, and who, after a lifetime of pretending to be male in order to survive, finally reclaimed her female identity upon reaching adulthood. After being confronted with this scenario, the woman conceded that she would be inclined to let this person enter women-only space, thus demonstrating that her argument about male socialization was really an argument about biology after all. In fact, after being pressed a bit further, she admitted that the scenario of a young girl who was forced against her will into boyhood made her realize how traumatic and dehumanizing male socialization could be for someone who was female-identified. This, of course, is exactly how many trans women experience their own childhoods."

you may feel nostalgic for it but there’s nothing to return to
Hey by the way if you're an American and you're against the war, it's your duty to call out the shit that is insane and monstrous and wrong.
If someone says something that you know to be wrong, say something. Push back on it. Iran didn't start this war. They haven't been at war with the US for forty seven years. The US didn't have to support Israel's strikes with this kind of escalation (we haven't in the past, in fact Trump hasn't in the past). The Iranian people are not looking to the US as liberators. The Strait of Hormuz was always going to be used tactically in this way, it is absurd to suggest that the Iran would open it because it is the single best method of leverage they have to resist annihilation from a superpower. Bombing civilian infrastructure is a war crime. Saying that an entire culture will be destroyed is genocidal.
There is no moral reason for the US to do this, the reasons that the US is doing this are oil and to destabilize the region. Hubris, cruelty, and a vile old man who wants to give himself a hero's legacy play a part as well.
You should be saying out loud to the people around you "This war is unjust, unnecessary, and cruel, and every reason our leaders are giving us to tell us why we're doing it is a lie."
People should know you feel this way. Some people will feel the same way, and it will be good for you and for them to know that you're not alone. Some people will NOT feel this way and it will be good for them to know that there are people all around them who haven't bought into the violent propaganda of empire.
Simple things to say to push back:
There is no justification for bombing water and power infrastructure for ninety million people; that will kill thousands of civilians and is a war crime.
Iran was bombed while they were negotiating with the countries that bombed them; they were willing to make the agreements requested by the US and Israel before they were bombed.
The Strait was open in February. If the US and Israel hadn't attacked Iran there would have been no reason for Iran to close it.
You can't be an "imminent threat" for forty seven years, so either Trump is lying about the immanency or is lying about Iran being at war with us for half a century.
Correct! If you are enlisted you made one really bad decision already, you don't have to make more. You can become a conscientious objector if possible, but if that's not possible it is better to refuse orders and go to prison than to participate in atrocity.
on principle i'm completely with the tumblr users who wanna mock folks who don't listen to rap/hip-hop/jazz/country/etc but some of the discourse on the subject on here seems to indicate that people think merely consuming media is like an act of social justice or some shit and thinking about it like that is just as fucked. you're not like, doing a favor to Black people by putting on jazz records you know
if you read about any biology you can quickly lose touch with what is astonishing and miraculous vs what is mundane, from animals that steal chloroplasts to become photosynthetic, to cloning technology being old hat, to trees that didn’t biodegrade for tens of millions of years, to naturally occurring lateral gene transfer between vastly different species, to the creation of gametes from adult cells, to the ability of some cancers to induce blood vessel growth, to desert shrimp that lie dormant for years, to the sensitivity of human touch receptors, to the fact that human hardware has a latent ability to see UV but their corneas block those wavelengths, to birds that echolocate and live in caves, to human skin being covered in enzymes that destroy RNA, to individual trees becoming genetic tapestries branch by branch, to life forms that gain energy from the electron potential of metals in their environments, to plants that recognize their siblings and adjust their behavior accordingly when growing next to them, to metamorphosis
which is to say. All of it is miraculous. and all of it is mundane. biology is Chaos vs. Order locking horns forever

the way that people on this site who believe in misandry talk about women but most importantly women who are either vocally lesbian, vocally feminist, or both, is borderline indistinguishable from how alt right youtube faux intellectuals speak about them once you strip back the tumblrspeak of it all and look at what they must actually believe about us in order for the statements they're making to be widely applicable, relevant, or important enough to be worth saying.
like if you're basing any opinion you're expressing on the idea that "woman who spends all of her time frothing at the mouth about her hatred of men for no good reason" is a type of person that actually exists in sufficient quantities to be worth addressing then you're a misogynist. full stop. whatever other spin you try to put on it that's not something you can believe that doesn't come from, at the very best, unbelievable naivety and lack of sympathy regarding the extent to which women are still marginalized.

Ive been saying this for years. You need to understand blue eyeshadow to understand anything at all. Today, blue eyeshadow is regarded as a "choice." Its either trendy or tacky or outdated, depending on the shade and style of application. But for about 30 years in the late 20th century, maybe the 50s through the 80s, blue eyeshadow was regarded as subtle, conservative, middle-of-the-road. Feminine. A "correct" shade to use. Brown or beige eyeshadow was the new thing, too subtle and casual to look like a "full face" of makeup. My grandmother (an enthusiastically conventional woman) has only ever worn blue eyeshadow.
The last 10 or 15 years have seen a real takeover of neutrals, beiges and grays and whites, in consumer goods and interior design. We've all seen the car color chart. Other people smarter than me have discussed the reasons for this, the caution brought on by economic instability. Nobody wants to paint their walls green because their home isnt a place to get comfortable, its an investment that will need to be made palatable for a new buyer (and why give yourself the extra task of repainting when youll have so much else to do when you move).
Neutral overload (and "clean design," with its lack of ornamentation) is aimed at creating a consistent, timeless, elegant look. Its adherents dont understand that this is also a trend. This subtle, conservative, middle-of-the-road design choice will look tacky and ostentatious someday. And necause you value timelessness, this will embarrass you.
The clock is fucking ticking
In videos circulating on social media of the event, Charlie Kirk can be seen sitting in a white gazebo addressing a crowd gathered at an event at Utah Valley University. The tent features the words "The American Comeback Tour" - the name of his current speaking tour. In one video, an audience member can be heard asking Kirk about mass shootings in America: “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?" Holding a microphone, Kirk responds: "Counting or not counting gang violence?" A loud gunshot is heard and Kirk appears to jolt backwards in his seat. Blood can be seen on his neck. People in the crowd scream and start running from the area.
clarification on my views on gender and "socialization", with some input from friends:
you are not "male socialized" or "female socialized", but rather you internalize the gender system itself, with both genders included within that as poles of the gender dialectic. children begin life broadly degendered and are coerced into the gender system. trans women have as much female as male "socialization" just like anyone else bc those two come together. how that turns out depends on the whole dialectic between self-determined and externally-deternined gender i alluded to
