Not getting a ton of reporting in US news, but the Trump administration is going after donors to Palestine, including going as far as international extradition under the guide of "counterterrorism"
here's two articles about how JK Rowling just posted on X an upskirt photo of Freda Wallace, a transgender woman, after deadnaming her and misgendering her repeatedly online.
The wealthy author escalated a social media spat that resulted in posting a photo from a 2023 event at the Institute of Economic Affairs in
Rowling posted the picture taken from below because the trans woman, she said, was "refusing to debate me."
Thank you for posting without the fucking destiel meme

Still Life with Magic Wand by Severin Roesen.
Have you heard about Amnesty International publishing a report on "gender critical" groups getting threatened by lawsuits?
Yes, and the lawsuits are being funded by JK Rowling.
Will Harry Potter fans give this a second thought while they fund her and keep giving her cultural capital? No, no they will not.
from the amnesty report: "The concept of ‘gender ideology’ is used by actors that oppose rights related to bodily autonomy, gender and sexuality, defend patriarchal gender norms as natural and positions the patriarchal family as the norm, and all other forms of family life as ‘ideology’. This concept is used by secular proponents as well as religious actors, and by some groups that identify as leftist or feminist. Anti-rights actors construct ‘gender ideology’ as an attack on the nation and traditions, as well as an attack on the family, marriage, and religious freedom."
i am pleased that there is a growing understanding of what "gender ideology" is as a dogwhistle, and that people who use it are not defending women but are doing all of the above!
also here on rowling offering to fund people to, as the above points out, sue amnesty international with a handy reminder in it that she also funded the group Sex Matters at the high court case in which not a single trans person was allowed to speak
i note there has already been an effect, in that amnesty initially had a list of organisations who were anti-rights (a term i hadn't come across before and is to the point) and the "gender critical" backlash caused them to take that list down, but it directly linked Alliance Defending Freedom (the far-right American organisation) with anti-trans organisations in the UK... so they are being seen for what they are, the mask (always slapdash and relying on a lack of scrutiny) is slipping and even though the list is down, Sex Matters and The LGB Alliance are still talked about alongside ADF in the report itself
We're at the "JK Rowling is personally funding litigation to try and destroy AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL" stage of rabid UK terf brain.

Tldr Amnesty International, global human rights organisation, published a report called 'A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK'. In it is detailed, amongst others, a whole bunch of transphobic groups and organisations, including Beira's Place, JK Rowling's trans exclusionary sexual violence support service. JK Rowling threw a shit fit and got Amnesty to take the report down by threatening libel. This was obviously not enough, because you can't appease a fascist, so now she's going to bankroll a bunch of lawsuits anyway through the JK Rowling Women's Fund.*
You can read an archived version of the report here, please save it and share it.
*Not so friendly reminder there is no way to engage in the wizard books without enabling this shit.

someone in the UK threw eggs at Charles and was arrested and has been banned from openly carrying eggs in public and has since been sent death threats but their statement on the matter was so fucking good
also let's take a moment to appreciate the picture of this man being arrested
"So my bail conditions were, between my arrest and my trial, were that I wasn't allowed to carry eggs in public." host laughs "Yeah, I know, and so that is in itself like so absurd that it's like right" Host: "I gotta know, is there like a provision for if you're going home from the store? Or are you just, are you just egg-less?" "So the copper who was literally just like making this up at the station says like 'Ok, so your bail condition is: you're not allowed within 500 meters of the king; you're not allowed to carry eggs in public' and then he goes like 'ah actually, like, what 'appens if he wants to buy some eggs?' Ok, so they changed it so it's like, 'You're allowed to carry eggs as long as you're going home from the shops and you've got the receipt" host laughs "And I think, that was more viral than me actually doing it, you know what I mean like, people were like, that's Britain for you, have you got a license for those eggs"
