I keep hearing people say "The Creature is supposed to be hideous, why is he so pretty in the new movie?" and I feel like that's part of the point?
in my opinion, Adam being less conventionally monstrous and more conventionally beautiful helps develop this version of Victor; who shirks away from his creation not because he finds him physically repulsive, but because of the responsibility of taking care of him. The fact that Adam resembles a badly-scarred person more than a stitched-up abomination makes Victor's rejection and hatred of him more visceral, more brutal.
His disdain towards him isn't because of a simple, surface-level, aesthetic reason, Victor just despises him for existing as a monster.
"To you I am grotesque, but to myself I simply am."
I honestly feel as if he's neither meant to be without flaw in his visuals but also not extremely ugly. While novel!Victor and GDT!Victor are indeed different characters, even in the novel Victor attempts to make someone who is beautiful, and it feels accurate enough too.
GDT!Creature is indeed prettier than previous depictions but I would almost argue that it's not necessarily wrong. Both GDT! and novel!Victor were around corpses for ages and likely got used to their appearance and their characteristics yet I'm sure that even novel!Victor's reaction to a beautiful corpse can be excused once it starts to move again and something along the lines of uncanny valley starts to hit.
He still looks off. I'm sure most people would feel off about someone with such heavy scaring and discolored skin, and his sheer size would at least warrant some looks and honestly, ostracisation.
The creature is meant to be proportionate, to have beautiful features. Mayhaps Mary Shelley didn't mean for him to be this beautiful but I'd argue that making him entirely monstrous is less accurate than this.
