I'm Nerdanelparmandil. This blog is mostly dedicated to the Silmarillion, for which I write the majority of my fics. I post them on AO3.

Current WIPs (ongoing publication):

Hand of Gold - Russingon, from the Years of the Trees and beyond. 4/? chapters, rating E. Updates irregularly.

Hungry for Love, Hungry for Blood series, Part I: Katabasis: focused on Maedhros/Fingolfin, rating: Explicit, length: 80k words. Featuring unhealthy coping mechanisms and Nolorin feudal politics. Explicit for both sex and mentions of torture, with a dash of undernegotiated kinks. Oh, and they talk. A lot. Finished, updates each month, 6 chapters in total.

What I'm currently working on (unpublished WIP):

Maedhros returns from the Halls of Mandos and diploatic incidents ensue. Family drama, exploration of trauma and depression, Valinorean politics. Russingon platonic endgame but it takes 100k words at least before they even meet. Currently finished part I, outlining part II.

The sequel to Katabasis, from Maedhros' POV. Early outlining stage.

A fairy tale-like story about Feanor's trying to exit Mandos, with Miriel's help, inspired by the Svipdagsmál. Outline done, need to start writing.

The Silmarillion will always be my main fandom, but I'll reblog stuff from other fandoms sometimes.

Chapter 33: After life - death, after death - life again

The Timeless Halls were nowhere located. Rather than a site, they were an outsideness. When Fëanáro, then, thither found himself, and for how the Eldarin soul was so vitally connected to Arda, he might have not known where he was but he knew with keen, irradicable precision where he was not: anywhere in creation.

Ñolofinwë and Fëanáro are dead.

In Beleriand, the world rearranges itself around their absence. Their kin, their realms, their ventures - all must go on. In Aman, tidings of both victory and death bring further tension to balances already frail.

And in the dread Halls of Mandos, where awaits durance and judgment, Fëanáro's soul argues a case not for himself, but something far larger. Who owns death? Who divinity? Who decrees the rules of healing? How is kindled the cruel miracle of life? And, ultimately, is it even worth it at all?

I’m not sure if this will be helpful to anyone, but you literally do not have to be a good writer to write and post fan fiction. Yes you will naturally get better at writing and finding your voice the more you do it but you do not have to be or become a professional level writer to enjoy writing and sharing fics. It’s common to hear people praise fic writers by saying their work is better than published books, and while I think this comes from a good place, that’s not the norm or expectation. There is also a sentiment that fic writing is “good practice” for becoming a better writer or doing something else later, but if fic is the only creative writing you ever do that is literally okay. Your technical skill does not mean you cannot have fun and build community with your writing, or that other people cannot love and find meaning in your work.

Fingolfin looks like Feanor. He knows this. Has always known this.

(He wonders, absently, whether he should be using that past tense, now that his brother is gone.)

He looks (looked?) like his brother. It was one reason that Feanor hated him so much more than Finarfin.

Still, it should not sting his heart so much. Should not hurt as much as it does, when the eldest of his nephews wakes on his sickbed and calls him ‘Atya’.

if you ever doubt that your ao3 comments matter or mean something: i have been struggling with my writing for 6 months straight, crying myself to sleep afraid that i will never be able to write again, that the thing i love most in the world has left me, that my writing is just gone

you have no idea how much writers treasure every single comment we get. you have no idea how big an impact you can have. sometimes, just sometimes, your one "insignificant" comment changes everything
