Okay so I made a list of 30 (well, 29 actually) prompts I am releasing into the wild. The point of this is that at least one of the participants are not having a good time.

I do not really ship grocky but if I did I just know that their kinks revolve around control and also that they have so, so much baggage to unpack and that they Will Not do it until someone breaks down in the middle of a scene.
Grace desperately wants somebody to take the burden off his shoulders, to make the choices for him and just get him to a place where he can feel good without his brain eating him alive, and he loves Rocky, has let him closer than anyone he can remember, and has been loved and held and taken care of in return. but if a command is said just a little too harshly, if Rocky presses just a little too hard in the wrong place, his walls are down and there's nothing between him and a rush of fear and pain and the awful feeling that he's going to be betrayed again and this time he gave himself up willingly, he trusted, and now-
Rocky needs control, he's spent so long floating with no handholds and no way to tell if he was going to wake up when he collapsed, lost and scared and completely out of his depth, he relishes how well he knows Grace, how much reliable power he has here, in this place, with someone who is so responsive and loud and alive, who he loves so much. but Grace is fragile, and he's fundamentally unfamilliar, and Rocky is never really sure what's ok and what isn't, what will hurt, what will break, and sometimes Grace makes a new noise or has a new response and Rocky is back in a hundred other rooms in a hundred other memories scrambling to fix something he didn't know could break like that, scrambling to be the responsible one again, knowing he's alone here, knowing he's the one who has to take care of things because otherwise-
"The last time any human touched Ryland Grace was an act of horrific violence"
Well... Yes and no.
The last time Ryland Grace was CONSCIOUS of any human touch was when he was knocked out. Absolutely true.
But the last human contact he would have had was Yao and Ilyukhina. Who were told that he was scared about panicking during launch and asked to be sedated. Who did all the pre flight checks before the Hail Mary launched. Who would have carefully, gently carried Grace to his bed in the dormitory, made sure he was secure, and initiated his coma procedure.
There would have been love there. Remember Ilyukhina throwing her hands high and saying "welcome to crew!" Remember Yao saying how he hoped Grace would say yes. Remember how much the crew trusted Grace, Stratt's First Officer, the guy who helped them so much, and was so kind to them, and was the one who they entrusted their preferred methods of suicide to. Who thought they were wonderful and brave.
They would have tucked him in. Maybe brushed his hair out of his face. Maybe said something kind to him before initiating their own coma procedures.
Ryland Grace doesn't remember, of course he wouldn't. But the last human touch he ever had was full of love.
i do find the omegaverse kind of fascinating conceptually. adding an aditional trinary on to our already complex sex and gender dynamics could do so much to your worldbuilding if you lean into it and explore the evolutionary and societal implications of it all. unfortunately telling people "im interested in the sex universe for the worldbuilding potential" is not very convincing no matter how you phrase it.
It's good and cool to give your characters a single simple, straightforward, non-urgent, super-achievable goal that shouldn't really cost anything or hurt anyone, make that the driving factor for most of their decisions, and then have the Plot do everything in its power to stop them.
…okay so what if the problem with the taomeba never happened on the way back home. What if the radiation never got onto the Blip-A. What if Rocky ended up back on Erid, and Grace made it back to Earth. What if they missed each other desperately forever.
What if Grace made a lopsided crochet Rocky and cuddled it every night.
What if Rocky couldn’t stop making xenonite puppets of his alien friend.
What if I made myself cry, what about that? Huh? What then?
What doesn’t get talked about enough is that, all those 40-something years, Rocky had all the supplies he needed to go back home. He had the fuel, he had the food. But he didn’t. He tried and tried and tried. He kept going. He took measurements, gathered data, built new Astrophage samplers but could never get it right. He maintained the Blip-A, a ship that was built in a hurry and just kept breaking, for over FORTY YEARS. When Grace found him, Rocky wasn’t just sitting idle in orbit. He was still working, still trying, he hadn’t given up. He was tracking the stars, probably to watch for a potential second mission from Erid, when he spotted the Hail Mary in reverse-thrust. Rocky calls Grace brave. Truly, Grace is. But I’d compare Rocky more to Stratt. How much of yourself would you be willing to sacrifice to save your planet? Rocky was willing to stay at Tau Ceti for the rest of his life until he either found a solution, or died.
