Wow, way to totally oversimplify the rationale behind the claim that Mako is a creator’s pet/gary stu, Anon! Next time you should actually take the time to read the arguments in the Anti Mako tag and actually absorb them because seriously it’s not just that Mako made mistakes in his relationship with Asami. I do want to make one thing clear, Mako never actually apologized. Saying you are sorry things got messed up is NOT the same as saying you are sorry for messing up things. The former skirts responsibility while the latter acknowledges fault. 

As for Varrick, Varrick is a clearly meant to be a comic relief character. We are supposed to laugh at his antics. They may not be funny at all in the same way Eska’s abuse of Bolin was not funny but we aren’t meant to take him seriously. It should also be noted that Varrick is very wealthy and well connected. It is not far fetched that he should be able to escape justice just like how wealthy criminals are able to do so in real life. Furthermore, I am not aware of any interviews done by the Bryke that prop up Varrick and make excuses for his actions. The same cannot be said for Mako.

I think offering this service is appalling in nearly every case.

Add on top of that, making it easy to access for a segment of the population that already has suicide as a leading cause of death and you're entering a whole new world of ghoulish behaviour.

For the purpose of this situation I don't really care where folks stand on transgender issues, that's irrelevant.

Because next up they may decide to add some silicone lube to the slope and move on to another demographic with a fairly high suicide rate, veterans is the first to come to my mind.

Maybe parents of children with not even a immediately terminal condition, but one that will require extra care and time, let's say cystic fibrosis.
