I made a D&D inspired Inktober prompt list. You can interpret it any way you want to. Use your own D&D characters, use other members of your party or create new characters! Most importantly, have fun!
If you tag me and use the hashtag #DnDinktober, I can look at your creations!

My life ever since I started listening to The Adventure Zone and Critical Role
have yâall taken the survey to pick the new NPC for critical role yet?

Oh yes. Thatâs been my aesthetic for years. I love it. Let the arcane flow through you!
Mollyâs âtimeâ
Iâve seen some posts saying that Clay is all about accepting that it was Mollyâs âtimeâ to die and the party and fans should âmove on already.â
It was not Mollyâs âtimeâ to die. He wasnât old. He wasnât seriously ill and resolved to his fate. He was young and full of life and fighting like hell to save his friends from sadistic slavers. He died not knowing if Yasha and the others would be rescued. He died as a sadistâs cruel example of what fate could befall the rest of the team should they try and pursue the Iron Shepherds. There was nothing natural, balancing, or expected about that death.
From a narrative and game standpoint too, it wasnât Mollyâs time to die either. Heâs got a whole massive backstory we know very little about, that we now might never find out until after the campaign ends. They hadnât given Mollyâs story a satisfactory end, or explored all that he had to offer. What about Cree, the blood hunter cult, the mysterious woman who possibly sabotaged their ritual? These are dangling plot threads that are now just sorta ⌠there.
Not every story needs to end satisfactorily. Sometimes mysteries remain mysteries. Sometimes people die too young or too soon. That might end up being the case here with Molly. (Theyâve got a lot working against them: a time limit, a lack of high level clerics, a ban on resurrections in the Empire, and out of game they desperately need a second healer in the team and they all know it.)
But this was definitely not Mollyâs âtime.â This was abrupt. This was untimely. This was tragic. And this is not something the team, or many fans, are just going to âget overâ right away.
I agree that being killed does not equate to it being oneâs âtime to goâ. Mollymauk had a lot of life left in him, but unfortunately made the disastrous decisions he did (alongside the rest of the party) that led to his demise.
Sometimes people donât get to see their stories through. Thatâs a harsh reality of both life and some D&D games. Matt ultimately has the final say on whether he wants that story to go unused and what type of game heâs running. Weâre just along for the ride. If youâre not about that then itâs likely to be a rough ride for you.
You donât have to like it. You donât have to even really get over it. You should, however, accept it as something that is. Mollymauk is dead. For now, at least.
What a supremely unhelpful addition to my post. I urge you to try for compassion, empathy, and patience with your fellow fans in this time. Sneering at people that âthatâs just how life isâ does no one any good. Thatâs the kind of attitude I was responding to when I made this post.Â
Iâm in no way sneering. Not only because thatâs actually impossible via text, but because Iâm not actually contemptuous or mocking in any way.
Its ok if its not helpful to you. In fact that might be a bit intentional because I wasnât agreeing with the entirety your post, just parts of it. People respond differently to various methods. What is âsupremely unhelpfulâ to one might just be what another needs.Â
At least we agree somewhat though. It definitely wasnât âhis time to dieâ, and I have another post where I ask that people take what time they need to get through their feelings on the matter. Its a rough spot for many, and I understand that. I was just weighing in my opinions, of which its definitely ok to have differing ones.Â
Critical Role is great but like most things it's got a fandom that's less than stellar. People are being ridiculous ever since the Molly thing.
I hold the unpopular opinion that Molly wasn't that great so maybe that's why I've no strong feelings but I can still empathize with people who are sad (even if I don't really get it).
Take your time to mourn. Defend and criticize who you will. Take the time you need to vent whatever emotions you're currently holding.
Just don't be an ass about it.
