Correct, as Catholics the only days we're obliged to fast are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, this is just a personal penance

traditionally, it is every friday. but orthodox & trads fast until sundown & no meat

I mean the most traditional thing would be to not to fast until Holy Week since before that the fasting was originally reserved for catechumens

ED TW:

i fast until sundown everyday during lent, it makes me feel closer to God & even though i suffer from an ED, i have a very wholesome & nutritious meal for every supper. so in a way, fasting gives me the illusion of the control that i desire, but in turn makes me realize i have no control at all; God wants me to be healthy, God also is the only one in control of the big picture.

when i restricted with my ED, i rarely broke the fast, & when i did, it was for something unhealthy & out of desperation. not to reward or to nourish, i felt very ashamed too. now, fasting is rewarded with a very clean/nutritious meal in a slightly higher amount than i would when eating meals regularly. i also try to abstain from meat entirely during lent. so lots of beans are being consumed lol
