i can already see the general audience saying “well henry chose to side with the mind flayer! he willingly did it! and he’s a groomer!” etc etc

the short answer is that henry DIDNT have a choice. henry was around the same age as will, scared, and didn’t want to hurt anyone anymore. henry was manipulated by the mind flayer just like will was. the only difference is that he didn’t have the love and support like will did. he was clueless, scared, didn’t know how to manage his stress, and dealing with a bunch of family stress. when he came to his mother she just told him to pretend that he’s normal. when things got worse her immediate reaction was to send him to a lab that denied his humanity.

henry didn’t have any support to overcome the mind flayer. he was being manipulated and pressured to the point he just gave up. he ran to brenner for comfort when he was younger and when he was being dehumanized by him i’m guessing it was the final straw. henry decided to give up because he felt like he was a burden and this was his consequence.

henry wasn’t given support and love like will was. he was a kind man but it all grew too much and he surrendered. he thought he had a choice but in the final moments showing his humanity anyone with reading comprehension skills could tell he was lying to himself.

also PLEASE do not attack the henry ≠ vecna fans because of the ending. i also don’t want to hear anyone who has not watched the first shadow use this ending as an excuse to pick fights.
