“I am quite gorgeous, thank you for noticing,” they smiled, “but I think it’s going to take more than a line like that to properly work, so just tell me what you want?”
“I just wanted to pay a compliment, that’s all.”

“I am quite gorgeous, thank you for noticing,” they smiled, “but I think it’s going to take more than a line like that to properly work, so just tell me what you want?”
“I just wanted to pay a compliment, that’s all.”
So cute. I kind of want to stab you for it.
“...I mean, you could do that. Or you could... not.”
“I think that’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”
“Really? That’s not sarcasm?”
“How many times did you practice that line in a mirror before you decided it was good to go?”
“Zero, I practice in the shower.”
See, but that in itself is still a pretty cheesy pick-up line.
Okay, you got me, I’m a cheesy bastard.
“It doesn’t matter what word you use. They’re all as shallow as each other. Luckily for you, I’m a shallow individual motivated only by personal acclaim – I’ll readily admit it – so I’ll take whatever compliment is coming.” Her lips quirked into a smirk; the kind of smirk that was hard to pinpoint. Was she smiling? Or perhaps smug? Was she merely expressing a deep, intangible thought, happy in the knowledge that she was an unreadable entity, or was she just trying to throw him off her scent? “Mm. Don’t tempt me,” the redhead divulged, a twinkle in her eye as a hum escaped her grinning lips. “If you start suggesting things like that, I fear I won’t be able to resist.”
“Not in my personal opinion. Gorgeous can be anything. Hair, eyes, smile, personality, aura.” He smirked back at her, dimples in full view. “Why on earth would you want to resist? I mean, unless of course you’re taken, that would be a pretty good reason.”
“Pray tell what they are,” Addie challenged with a quirk of her sculpted brows, grin tugging loosely at her lips. “The beauty of the language doesn’t distract from the eroticism of it. If anything, I’d say it only emphasises it – and poetry doesn’t have to rhyme. In fact, I think I prefer it if it doesn’t. To rhyme is to put your wrists out to the jury and say ‘shackle me. Root me to the spot so that I shan’t move nor breathe. Restrain me.’ To abandon rhyme is to allow free reign to creativity.”
“Me, for one,” He said, mostly just teasing. Mostly he just didn’t think of beautiful poetry as raunchy, even if it was sexual. Raunchy to CJ meant dirty, not beautiful. And of course, sex could be beautiful. Not always, but it could be. “Of course poetry doesn’t have to rhyme, but I’m an ‘actions speak louder than words’ kind of guy. Not that I don’t enjoy beautiful language but I think the things you do say a lot more than the words that come out of your mouth.”
“I’m not sure whether to be complimented that you think I’m hot stuff, or insulted that you think I can be won over with a simple flick of the tongue – euphemism unintended, though if you’d prefer to take it that way then you’re welcome to prove me wrong.”
“I mean, I said gorgeous, not hot stuff. Gorgeous has a lot more meaning to it I feel. Hot stuff sounds kind of shallow I think. And I didn’t think it’d win you over completely but it was worth a shot, right? The worst thing you’d do is tell me to get lost and I’d be on my way. And if you’re up for some tongue flicking I’d be more than happy to oblige.”
“Put your hands on my knees, she said” Addie quoted aloud, voice honeyed, “and think of me as a book you’ve been dying to read.” Dark eyes glanced up at the other as she tried to conceal her smirk, legs crossed behind her in the tall grass as she thumbed the well-read pages of an erotic poetry anthology. “Raunchy, isn’t it? I don’t think you can get much better literature than a poem that reads like foreplay.”
“I could think of raunchier things,” CJ shrugged. “But I will admit, it’s a lot prettier sounding than some things. I think I’d start laughing if someone started rhyming at me during foreplay though.”
You know what-- you’re so gorgeous that I forgot my cheesy pick up line.
