New Language Discord
Hello! I’ve made a new discord server for learning languages and linguistics. We have several channels for different languages, and I will add more upon requests. We’re also looking for mods, especially ones who speak multiple languages! Here’s the invite links:

what a great day to remember that languages are an integral part of people’s identity and culture and should be treated with respect
The gang learns languages
Bonus:
Big Langblr Mood
*hears a foreign language i don’t speak*
me: *sobbing* it’s beautiful i must learn it
Me flirting in any other language (and also English)
people be shitting on French spelling like English is any better
If you could instantly be granted fluency in 5 languages—not taking away your existing language proficiency in any way, solely a gain—what 5 would you choose?
is polyglot culture understanding a few words overheard in a conversation in a language you’ve never studied before between strangers in a public place because they speak a language that is from the same language family as a language you study and feeling a m a z i n g about it ?
#Welsh Word of the Day: Gwên/ #Smile
‘Why would you learn Welsh?’
‘Celtic languages are all dying anyways.’
‘Welsh looks like gibberish.’
‘Can you even pronounce your own names?’
‘”W” isn’t a vowel!’
If you speak/are learning Irish, Welsh, or German, could you please reblog this?
I’d like to get better at all three of these languages.
The two types of language learners:
Person 1: I can’t wait to know a few phrases so I can communicate in my target language!
Person 2: I REFUSE TO SPEAK A SINGLE WORD UNTIL I KNOW ALL THE GRAMMATICAL RULES AND ALL THE SYNTAX AND MORPHOL-
I’m glad Duolingo is preparing me for all those really practical conversations.
my personal (dumb) reasons to learn a foreign language
to understand way more memes and vines and laugh at them
to watch more porn
to watch movies and series without needing subtitles
to read more books and comics
to be able to swear in a lot of different ways without people knowing about it
to surprise people
to make foreign friends
when you just can’t understand a school subject, studying it in another language can help (at least it works for me. don’t judge me ajdjskfj)
it feels good seeing signs on streets and knowing what is written. do you see my point?
