I don't know if Murph knows this, but Bones Season 7 was the absolute perfect thing to have Gilear watch for a number of reasons.

First, the old school CH fans among you may remember that Bones was the show that Zac Oyama's character usually used to fall asleep to in a video called "I Got No Sleep Last Night", which he said he chose because the show is so boring.

Second, Bones itself (especially the latter seasons) is more or less remembered as a middling series (as a recovering Bones fan - ten years with an episode - I can attest to this). Thus, it being Gilear's fixation - given that he's the most pathetic man to ever live - makes a lot of sense.

Third, the main character of Bones' name is Temperance Brennan. Brennan Lee Mulligan is a teetotaler (see the episode of The Downside With Gianmarco Soresi he was on), and the Temperance Movement campaigned against alcohol. Also, their names match.

Fourth, for those of you who aren't recovering Bones fans, the titular character is pregnant in Season 7, and Gilear is expecting his second child at the time the one-shot is set.

Look, it's simple. If a person has to actively work to make money, they're not "the rich" and they're not the problem. A surgeon making $200k a year still stops making money if they stop showing up to do surgery, because they're still selling their labor. The radical discrepancies in how we value different skills are certainly a problem, but the guy who makes money when he doesn't even get out of bed is the one making money on the value of other people's labor.
