“Anyone else’s brain feeling a little fried,” He was still a little fuzzy from the Halloween party and coursework was the last thing he wanted to concentrate on. “Let’s take a break.”
“Oh, thank Merlin. I wsn’t sure how much longer I could stare at that book. The lack of sleep was making it rather hard to concentrate.”
“Normally I’d say yes, but after the number of drinks I’ve had, I can’t guarantee that at this point,” he said with a laugh, “But that won’t stop me.”
“Well, that’s a risk I’m willing to take then.” Nick was always on the adventurous side and he didn’t mind trying new things. He made his way towards the ride.
Her attention at been on the candied apples when the young man spoke. She didn’t notice anyone else around, so she glanced to the ride he was looking at. “Only if you don’t judge at how much I scream,” she said with a teasing grin.
A laugh escaped his lips, he wasn’t someone who couldn’t handle loud noises. He did have younger siblings after all and growing up, there was rarely any peace and quiet. “You got a deal.”
“Well, most people refer to it as a death trap but I don’t really think it seems that bad. It basically just does spins while you’re up in the air. It can make some people sick though.”
Posie blinked in surprise before she shook her head in an adamant manner, “You must be completely off your rocker if you think that I’m getting onto that death trap. Not unless you want your shoes to be covered in puke afterward.”
“Yeah.... that doesn’t sound like fun.” Nicholas looked over at the zipper one final time before he turned his attention to her again, “Is it the flips or the height that does it for you?” He asked curiously.
Lily smiled at the unexpected compliment from the stranger, nodding once. “Thanks. And yeah, Princess was the worst. Besides, her red is different than my shade. And I would have had to curl it. No thank you.” She smirked before saying “Sorry, what’s your name?”
“That is true.” He blinked a moment, “Oh, excuse me. I’m Nicholas. Or Nick. Usually everyone calls me Nick. You’re Lily, right?”
Hugo adjusted his sign that read ‘Nudist on Strike’ – lazy costume? Maybe. But damn it, it counted. He looked up at the ride, arching an eyebrow. “Yeah, looks great. You know, I haven’t actually puked yet today? So, what the hell?”
He took off his crown that completed his King Arthur costume and smiled at the other, “Then let’s continue the streak! Common.” He nudged the other with his arm before he stepped forward towards the ride.
“My favourite is actually Buttercup,” Lily explained, looking down at the pink dress and black sash tied in the middle. She looked up at the other person before shrugging. “But I figured I already have the hair for Blossom, might as well use it, right?”
Nick had decided to come dressed up as King Arthur. He shrugged, “It’s better than what’s her name.. Princess Morbucks? She has red hair too but she always got on my nerves so badly when I was a kid. You pull off Blossom rather nicely though.” He gave her a thumbs up.
He had been watching the rides for a moment now. He was in awe at how this was event possible but he knew a night of no stress and fun would do him some good. He was watching the zipper. “I’ll go if you go with me.”
She giggled at his explanation with a nod. “Yeah, I think I’ve heard that same cycle from most Ravenclaws I’ve talked to. Oh, no offense, or anything.” Bryony was worried that she would’ve offended him, since her already shitty censor was even shittier as soon as she woke up.
“No, you’re right. However, I think the only reason I continue to do so is because I continue to excel in my classes despite it. I’m not fond of the stress though.” Nick wasn’t someone who took other people’s words to heart even if they were being rude which he knew she wasn’t.
Bryony gave a tiny smile and a nod. “Thanks, I appreciate it,” she said, rolling her head to try and get out the already forming kink in her neck. “I take it you know from personal experience?”
“You can catch me in here sleeping at least twice a week.” He smiled, “I tend to put things off to last minute and I always tell myself I won’t anymore but I’m a liar because I continue to excel despite it so it’s a never ending cycle.”
“Hm?” Bryony responded, her eyes fluttering open as his voice registered in her brain. “Oh, shit,” she said as she looked around. “Um… how long was I asleep?” She hoped it wasn’t long; the less time she was asleep in the library, the less embarrassed she would be.
“Honestly, I’m not sure. I walked in and you were already asleep but I know how it ends up being a pain in the ass if you sleep too long in that position.” He explained, “I don’t think anyone else saw you though.”
Oh hey, it’s NICHOLAS ABBOTT, the 6th year CISMALE RAVENCLAW. I always thought HE looked just like the muggle, MAX IRONS. I’ve heard they’re COMPASSIONATE & QUICK WITTED, but also a PROCRASTINATOR & INSECURE. Hope they have a good year!
Ravenclaw and proud. He enjoys reading and is a very quick learner. He likes to take on challenges with riddles ( those are his favorites ) and puzzles. He is constantly challenging himself to be better.
Sometimes it’s hard because he wants things to be so perfect that he tends to put things to last minute which causes a lot of stress and sleepless nights.
He has a younger sister who he tries his very best to be there for and is a bit protective.
His father, Jensen, kept his mother’s last name due to wanting to get rid of any relation to his family’s Death Eater roots.
Nick has always been close to his cousins and other family, the Longbottoms. His mother, Isabelle and his aunt Hannah had grown up together after Hannah’s mother was killed by Death Eaters and they remained close years after, celebrating birthdays and Christmas together every so often.
He always wished that his mother would have gone and helped Hannah at the Leaky Cauldron growing up because he loved the food there and now that he’s older, he wishes she would have gone for her safety instead.
Jensen worked as a lawyer and Isabelle worked for the ministry as an auror. There were periods of time where Isabelle would be gone on an assignment and usually Nick managed along with his father and sister. They missed her but they understood. It all worked out well until his 4th year when she never came back. She had been filed as a missing person and after a year, they had declared she was dead.
He missed a year of school because of this and had to start where he left off so he’s a year behind.
The loss hit the family harder than any of them would have liked to admit but it hit his father worse than the two siblings. During breaks Nick felt more like the adult than his father. He always made sure his sister was fed even if that meant that he sometimes didn’t eat if his father hadn’t bought enough food for everyone. Jensen had gone into a severe depression and spiraled into alcoholism as well.
Nick hated his father when he was drunk as he was a different person than he knew him to be. He was loud, he liked to yell if he didn’t get his way, he was quick to anger and often times Nick found himself taking the worst of it for his sister. Despite everything, he didn’t have anger for his father. He had lost the love of his life and his best friend, he just wished he knew what to do to help him because he still loved him. Sometimes he’d wait for him at night to make sure he was okay but most nights he just walked past him and pretended he wasn’t there. Nick believes it’s because of his resemblance to his mother.
He’s the type of person who will take on anything for his friends and those he loves despite the fact that he’s struggling himself. He loves to tutor people and help them with school work.
The only thing that Nick struggles with is Divination because there’s no logic to it and it confuses him.
Bryony had finally finished reading the textbook Professor Bilingsley had loaned her, but it was at the expense of her sleep. She was working on her potions essay in the library when she felt herself falling asleep. She decided she could rest her head for five minutes, only to completely fall asleep, and stayed that way for god knows how long.
Nick found comfort in the library and a lot of times seemed to get lost there for longer than he would like to admit. He turned a corner to go and find a table to sit when he saw her sleeping and by her posture, he knew if she stayed that way long, she’d probably wake up with a sore neck. He gently called out to her, “Hey..” He called once more, “You should probably head to bed before you get stuck like that.”
