Being dark skinned in this world has always been viewed as "disgusting". "Oh, her? She's a lovely person but she's dark skinned." Dark skinned people, especially dark skinned women have and still are being viewed as the lowest form of life on this planet. Dark skinned women have resulted to bleaching their skins in order to fit what society deems as "beautiful". I've always had an issue with my skin colour and being black in general. Just because of the snide comments people say and make to me and behind my back... Yet I never realised in actual fact just how lucky I am to be black AND dark skinned. The coarse texture and the curliness of my big and natural African hair, my big broad nose, my thick lips, my big eyes and last and most importantly my dark skin are all signs of my heritage. They're all signs that I am Mama Africa's child. I was born and breed in Africa and no matter what people say, no matter how low people will put down black people and dark skinned people, I will never conform. #blackwomen #darkskin #society #selfdiscovery #conforming
