Intro Post!

Hello y'all, I am Nickel from @elementcattos. I'm the 28th element in the purriodic hotel!

I like to spend my time making some BIG MONEY (certified hustler), if you pay me a bit I MIGHT consider letting you pet me. Actually, I owned a whole company at some point (old story). I also make and collect coins in my spare time.

I like to alloy with other metals. Iron is my pal, we hang out together all the time in stainless steel... (NON-ROMANTICALLY, DISREGARD THE FALSE ALLEGATIONS). Rhenium too, I helped him with some metals in his jet turbines. Also acquainted to other transition metals like Copper, Silver... and Gold too, if you can believe it.

fun fact:

indonesia is the world's largest exporter of nickel, holding over 55 MILLION TONS of it in reserves. nickel has pretty much transformed the entire economy of the country, centered heavily in Central and Southeast Sulawesi as well as North Maluku.

it didn't pop off until 2014, when the indonesian government banned exports of unprocessed nickel ore, forcing mining companies to build processing plants which process the nickel into battery-grade materials. was this ban harsh? yes, but it did attract billions in foreign investment, primarily chinese, to build massive industrial zones.

this did cause some environmental hazards though. open-pit mining has led to some pretty gnarly stuff to the ecosystem, including the waters, where fish population was DECIMATED. and to make room for mining, you needed to cut down trees, which caused flooding.

still though, nickel remains to be a huge part in indonesia's income.

As for the environmental devastation, blame those developers, not the metal...

It seems I have my answer as to why I have been blocked (as I could easily be interpreted similar to the way you described the other person), as does this individual. The real question then with this information made public, is why have I been unblocked?

copper on itself isn't used in underwater piping or structures meant to handle rain, since it obviously oxidizes. however, when alloyed with nickel, its corrosion resistance protects the copper from corroding. not only does it make it resistant to underwater oxidation—which is why it's used in marine engineering, but copper's high heat conductivity is also there, which is why it's used in heat exchangers and condensers in power plants.

american coins use nickel and copper. that's right, the american cents. not just nickels, but also pennies, dimes, and quarters. cupronickel gives coins their corrosion resistance, durability, and electromagnetic signatures. this is important because you obviously don't want coins to turn blue due to oxidation in your pocket as it absorbs your sweat, but also because the durability of coins are the reason why we even use coins.

Nickel-62, the REAL pinnacle of fusion

My first isotope design! He's a brother of the Nickel-58 you know and love.

He is somewhat more fluffy than baseline Nickel, and has stripes referencing the fusion thing. And he gets into arguments with Iron about who is the "true" pinnacle of nuclear fusion.

My epic bro who is WAY cooler than Iron :3 :3 :3

My headcanon is that Neodymium actually has pretty good relations with everyone else, and is generally a very pleasant catto. It's just when it comes to Iron, Cobalt, Nickel (and maybe Gadolinium) they go completely crazy.
