Dorian and Sera Friendship Headcanons
Dorian uses all the big fancy words, but but heâs still not operating in his first language. So Sera catches him on grammar, or teaches him all the dirty slangy words his tutors never let him hear. She gives him fifteen different words for penis (âSera, how do you even know all these?â); it does come in handy for his relationship with the Inquisitor or Iron Bull.

Sera and Dorian both having moments of âWait, whatâs that wordâŠ?â âYou and your⊠fancy hair-cutting thingsâ âScissors?â âYeah! Thatâs it!â Or: âWait, whatâs the name for that place where itâs all wet and gloomy and there are rotten corpses trying to kill you?â âLike a swamp? Or a bog?â âA⊠âbog,â you say. What a charming word.â
Of course, sometimes Sera just starts shouting random words and Dorianâs like â⊠youâre not even trying now, are you?â âMushrooms!â
Dorian still occasionally getting caught by his class privilege when Sera tells him what she thinks is a funny story about the alienage that just leaves Dorian appalled at the conditions she takes for granted (âThere was a dead rat in the water?â âWell yeah, thatâs what happens when it rains in the summer. What?â) So when the Inquisitor tries to call him out on the whole Tevinter slavery thing, heâs like âYeah it sucks but donât act like the alienages are any better.â

All the nobles at the Winter Palace assume Sera is a servant, and Dorian elegantly tears them to shreds in ways that donât blow their cover or get them thrown out.
Dorian commenting that the ham tastes of despair and Sera being like âYeah and the wine tastes of disgruntlement and the cheese tastes like disgustâ and Dorian completely deadpan telling her âActually, itâs the cheese that tastes like disgruntlement. The wine tastes like melancholyâ and Sera just squints at him because she canât tell if heâs being serious or not.
Sera viciously pranking anyone who talks shit about Dorian (Mother Giselle finds slugs in her shoes after she goes to the Inquisitor about the ârumorsâ), because she makes friends easily enough, but not friends who will stand up for her, or friends who stick with her and arenât put off by her strangeness.
Dorian having a stern word with Solas for giving Sera grief over not being âelfyâ enough, because he knows what itâs like to be told that youâre not being what you are the right way.
Dorian listening in on Seraâs chats with Iron Bull and marveling at how effortlessly and unabashedly she expresses same-sex attraction.
Sera trying to set Dorian up with every gay boy she comes across, regardless of whether they have anything else in common.Â
Sera and Dorian having the most ridiculous and nonsensical in-jokes, like âjoustingâ becomes their private euphemism for gay sex and they both giggle every time Varric and Blackwall talk about actual jousting.
Sera going to Tevinter with Dorian and setting up another chapter of the Red Jennies. Dorian occasionally goes to them for favors against this or that magister, and gains a reputation in the Magesterium for being a political radical due to his vehement anti-slavery stance. But of course no one can actually do anything to him directly, because the people who do that tend to have âaccidents.â
