alphinaud /comforts the wol if you get inflicted with misery in the great gubal library even when he's not the healer 🥺
When it comes to static gposing there’s something very cathartic about keeping it as vanilla as possible. No custom posing, no summoning special lighting via plugins or summoning props. Just going out into the open world and finding the right spots or making your own apartment a studio with in-game lighting tools.
The siblings ☀️

To anyone who's ever been worried that your OC is too Extra... don't be.
The thing is, in any RPG, the protagonist is often meant to be a bit of a blank slate, with room to implement one's own OC, personality, and headcanons. The fact that game dialogue can sometimes feel noncommittal, or the fact that the responses can vary so widely, speaks to this: you can be anyone, so you are not forced to be any one thing specifically.
But when you carry that OC with you, out of that game? The role of the protagonist in the narrative shifts: it is yours. It belongs not to everyone (which is how they build the game) but to you, to your iteration and interpretation of the game's events. The protagonist goes from being the vessel through which we experience the story to being the main character of a narrative.
When we write, then (though this is also true for non-writers with OCs!) the protagonist - be they Tav, Rook, the Inquisitor, the Rogue Trader, anything - benefits from having more detail, and especially more extravagant detail. They are (most often) the POV character of the narrative. They are the lens through which we, as readers in fandom, experience your story.
So yes: make them special.
Yes: make them unhinged.
Yes: make them go on whatever emotional journey you like.
That's what they're there for, and these details enrich the story every single time.

Were you around for and did you survive the MSQ mandatory: Cape Westwind (Ultimate)?
Yes, entire party wipes, sprouts unsubbed, many voted to quit but we persevered
No, but I hear the legends of the most difficult trial ever put in MSQ
No, what the hell is Cape Westwind?
(Taken days before it's removal)
I have a piece of history to save and cherish forever.

One thing I find particularly interesting about the dragons of FFXIV is that they are very much beings of intent. How they mature is based on how they choose to grow, meaning that a group of sibling dragonets could all take on vastly different forms when they grow up
Even having babies at all is a choice! One that any dragon can make, with or without a consort in their lives, thanks to them reproducing asexually and also off of vibes
And let's not forget about how this power of intent affects their very blood. Not just any dragon blood will cause the changes into aevises, syrictae, or diresaurs that those descended from the surviving members of Thordan's twelve knights are capable of. It must be willingly and deliberately given for the purpose of transforming them—though while the dragon offering it must choose to do so, there is no such choice on the part of whoever consumes it, as we see in the Heavensward dragoon quests
(BTW, this is why it's safe for people to consume the dragon blood used in the various draconian potions we can craft)
Nobody is doing it like the FFXIV dragons, man
