Ava had no hurt feelings toward her older sister and how their relationship was. All three of the Valdes daughters had their own striking personality and challenges in life. With the driven personalities of the three, all of them got places in life and achieved what the hearts desired. With her own hectic work schedule, the time she spent with her sisters were through her nieces. More recently than ever, she was occupied with rekindling the old flames with Alec, as everything in her life felt at ease and the emotions she allowed to wallow her weren’t beating on her conscious. Though, she knew situations like hers weren’t the luckiest in their family. Rarely did Ava share how she felt, refraining from even letting anything slip till she executed the steps, it was silence on her behalf. She wasn’t here to talk about Porter. Though, a lot about Ava was intrigued of his sudden appearance and the need to protect her niece from her father, who didn’t even know he has a child for that fact. It was by her sisters wishes. Anything Nina wanted, Ava would do it. She wasn’t one to argue. Yet most importantly, it wasn’t her place and whenever Nina was ready to tell the truth, her sister would.
Still, even if they weren’t the closest to each other, Ava knew she needed to open up and get the ball rolling. With Margot knowing of the grand news, it didn’t hurt going to tell her family, whom obviously had to run into Alec around town due to how small Kingsholm was without knowing how much has been changing over the fews. Spending time with each other on a daily, learning about each other again, even though the only thing that changed was their age and places where they lived, which now Ava was casually crashing at Alec’s home as much as possible. As her darling niece dashed off in the distance, she didn’t quite know how much time she had before Sophia came waltzing back and demanding her aunt’s attention. The way the nerves crept on her was simply unexpected. This was her sister, for crying out aloud. But, she didn’t know fully how Nina felt about Alec. This would test the waters in knowing. As those words slipped off her tongue, a sensation of relief and the enormous weight lifted off her shoulder, careful hues wandering how the other will react. Yet, those three words caused a beam to brighten, indenting dimples to her olive complexion, “Right, thank god is the right emotions,” she was relieved, happiness flowing in her response, feeling as her heart was frantically beating out of her chest. Ava knew Nina and Alec had the connection from high school, though, she hated how things ended up and she’d have to work on proving an incident like what happened would never happen again. There didn’t need to feel the awkwardness around the male who fit perfectly into their family. A guilty expression coated her features at Nina’s next words, hands collapsing with each other, “Weeelll,” she dragged out, glancing around before speaking again, “Yes, okay. It’s easier because I know I wouldn’t receive any judgment from you.” Which was the truth, as much as Ava loved Vera, this was her life and her decision of reuniting with the male. The way she beamed furthermore, she nodded in agreement to her sisters words, “I am too. I just felt.. missing without him and I hated how I handled things but I’ll own up to it. For almost a month now, the last couple of weeks, we just have been spending time with each other and getting comfortable with one another again. I’ve been spending any of my free time at his place. I’m glad to be with him again though. Really am.”
Although Nina was curious, she never thought it was in her place to ask. It was one of her many qualities that she strived for to separate herself from the rest of her family. Hell, she never felt like she fitted in with her family, but here she was anyway, back in her hometown and making a life for herself with the rest of the Valdes clan lingering around town. She never wanted to deprive Sophia of their presence, even if a part of her couldn’t help but want to keep her in a bubble alone with just the two of them together. They would’ve been able to get through everything together, even if being a single mother was a huge feat on its own. But then, since she found herself being a mother and spending time with Ava, she didn’t realise how much she missed her old life. One where she could go out and have fun, living a life without a single worry in her mind. Not that she ever regretted having her daughter though, because she was literally the centre of her world now and she loved her unconditionally, just like how her sister seemed to have with her and Ida too. Hearing the news about Ava and Alec’s reunion wasn’t so much of a surprise, after all, she bumped into Alec earlier in the month, which only meant that they were going to see each other sooner or later, even when her youngest sister practically lived in the hospital sometimes. Although the thought didn’t really cross her mind until her night with Vera the other day, their sister was always better at picking up on clues and coming to the right conclusions, but she was thankful that Ava decided to bring the topic up herself rather than her asking. “Well, thank god for you, because you weren’t ever going to turn your eyes to another man, were you? Plus, I’m just grateful that it’s not going to be awkward between me and Alec now. After all, I’ve known him since we were in high school. He always tried to ask about you after...you know, when you guys broke up.” Nina pretty much felt indifferent to all of her sisters’ boyfriends in the past, since she was too busy in her own world getting up to no good, and she never saw any bad intentions in them anyway. As long as her sisters were happy, then it was easy on her behalf. She was always an easygoing person, so it did really took her a lot not to like someone...at least when she was sober anyway. “You better tell her soon though,” She smirked at her sister. “God knows how she’ll react if she had to find out herself, and you know how fast news travel around here.” Right now, she was really thankful that she wasn’t in Ava’s position, even if Porter’s sudden reappearance threw a curveball in her way. That, she would deal with when she really had to. “You know how you feel yourself, and you know what’s good for you or not. I’m just glad you guys made the effort to smoothing things out and getting back together. Do you think...things are going to move along faster this time considering your history with him or not? No one is telling you to hurry up, of course. You guys are grown adults who can make those decisions yourself.”
