Una McCormac is the best Trek writer. She doesn’t spend paragraphs upon pages talking about people opening corridors, pressing buttons, sealing hatches, blah blah blah. She unpacks as much character as she can, and gets to the next story beat expediently. I can’t wait to read this paperback.

i was talking to my mom about cardassians and said something along the lines of ‘what must it be like to be a cardassian civilian. like abstractly knowing the rest of the galaxy thinks of your species as ‘the evil ones’ and kinda sorta knowing your government runs labor camps and torture prisons and is a military empire, and it’s a huge deal for everyone else in the galaxy, but you just like run a restaurant so it’s not a big part of your daily life, so you just like, go about your day and make soup and don’t think about it’ and then halfway through my sentence i actually heard myself and then had to go sit down for like ten minutes. like sat down in a chair and stared at the floor for ten minutes

I'm also a spy, and I live in a space station called DS9 in Bajoran space where I’m a tailor (I'm 49). I'm a patriot (in case you couldn't tell) and I wear mostly cardassian styles. I love the National State Clothiers and I illegally import all my fabrics from there. For example today I was wearing a brown shirt with matching brown pants and shoulder pads, purple accents and a leopard print undershirt. I had gel in my hair, blue ridge blush and forehead blush. I was walking around the promenade. The temperature controls were malfunctioning so it was warmer than usual, which I was very happy about. A lot of federajis stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them.
