i don't wanna be a killjoy but if you're playing pokemon arceus please take the time to learn about the ainu people, their ongoing struggle to keep their culture alive, and the colonisation of hokkaido (the area the sinnoh region is based on)

the game itself has a good bit of colonialist themes and indigenous erasure, which means it's up to fans to educate themselves and be mindful of what things they internalise. this isn't a call out or guilt trip, i'm just asking people to be aware of the context behind the media they consume.

additionally, consider boosting ainu voices (especially about the game itself), donating to ainu individuals, and spreading awareness on the subject as allies.

My opinion on the Legends leaks

Under the cut, at least.

OK. This is mostly about how people don't like Dialga and Palkia. When Inteleon was first leaked, a lotta people hated it. I think most the hate is that people didn't get what they expected/wanted, and what they expected/wanted is Primal Dialga and Primal Palkia(don't lie to yourselves, that's what you wanted). I have yet to see the two in-game animations, though, the only of the leaked pokemon I saw with the in-game animation is Typhosion, which made him look less high and more cool. ((seriously, without the flames it looks high!)) As for my opinions on the two? I think I like Palkia's more than Dialga's, mostly because Dialga looks like a cartoon character swallowed a watermelon whole, while Palkia is a centaur. For the other pokemon, I also really like the Avalugg, and that Genie as I'm a huge snake fan and it's a turtle and a snake. The last one I have some sort of opinion on is the Weavile. If that's a ride pokemon, imagine how tall that thing must be, that'd be terrifying-

Welcome to all the new players! We may be approaching Splatoon 3, but we're still happy to have active and new players in our games! Please feel free to ask any questions to most folks here, we're happy to answer!

VETERAN PLAYERS IN TURF WAR: PLEASE try not to camp/bag/etc, literally no one is impressed by your 12+ splats when it comes to brand new players, and there's no point to it

This doesn't mean you have to throw, but if they're obviously just starting out, maybe hang back in mid and catch 'em as they come out! It'll teach them what works and what doesn't work, while also giving them some sort of fun out of the match!

Also bagging is just a jerk move and if I see anyone out there bagging new players in my matches, I will use my Tryhard X Rank Skills™ to make your game as miserable as possible /bricked

salmon run tips and etiquette (from a long time 400 profreshional)

- if it’s low tide, don’t run off by yourself. wait for your teammates! throw bombs out until it’s safe

- kill enemies as close to the basket as possible so people aren’t scrambling

- get. rid. of. stingers.

- if you die, go towards the egg basket if a teammate isn’t nearby. otherwise, stand still. it’s easier to revive you

- during restless salmonids: pick a defensible spot and stay there. huddle together and don’t let your teammates out of sight, or youre all dead, fast

- the splashdown is a panic button. use it wisely

- you can shoot the mothership with the sting ray! once it gets pretty close to the basket (NOT ON THE BASKET) start shooting. it’ll drop eggs and won’t steal any

- if a teammate is occupied with something (throwing a bomb, shooting at a steelhead) take care of the chum around them

- unless there’s a charger, it takes two people to deal with a steelhead

- don’t open more of the goldie porthole things until you’ve picked up all the eggs

- booyah back! the primary difference between salmon run and the other game modes is that cooperation and teamwork are the difference between life and death- stick together and you’ll get it done!
