I hate how much of activism has turned into extremes, either you think all trans people are saints, or you’re a terf. If you wear makeup you obviously think porn is great an there is nothing wrong with it. Either you’re the radicalist of the radical feminists, or the liberalist of the liberals. Either all people claiming to be trans are sexual predators, or none of them. Man claiming to be trans women to access women only places is a thing, but that doesn’t mean all trans women are men in disguise. Some trans people are shitty entitled assholes, but that doesn’t mean you have to “drop the T”. Cis lesbians are completely allowed to not want to have sex with trans lesbians. Anyone is allowed to not want to have sex with anyone, if you claim otherwise you’re dangerously close to advocating rape. It is perfectly possible for a cis lesbian to fall in love with a trans lesbian, but it is also completely allowed to not want to have sex with someone even if you’re in love with them. It also allowed to not enter a relationship with someone you love, because sex matters to you. Non-asexuals can have perfectly happy monogamous relationships without any sex, but that doesn’t mean everyone should be up for that. No one deserves sex. Ever. Trans, cis, gay, straight, bi, pan, non-binary, ace, demi, disabled, sick, healthy, black, asian, Muslim, white, Christian, nice person, shitty person, etc, etc, NO ONE deserves sex just for existing. BUT that doesn’t mean you should think no one will have sex with someone just because you don’t. A lot of cis lesbians will not have sex with trans women, and that is perfectly fine, but that doesn’t all cis lesbians aren’t up for it. (Same with gay) You can be a feminist and think sports should be divided by sex. Men and women aren’t superior to one another, but they are built differently, and sports favour one or the other (mostly men, sadly) if you think men and women would have equal opportunities if sports were mixed, look at sledge hockey in the Paralympics. It is possible to say trans people can compete with the gender they identify as, without saying anyone who claims to be trans can. If they have transitioned and go through testing to show they gain no advantage from being trans then they should be allowed to compete with the gender they identify as (the rules in the olympics are that trans women must have presented as female for at least 4 years (it used to include genital surgery, but was changed since many countries do not allow sex reassignment surgery) and most importantly their testosterone levels must be below 10 nanomoles/liter for at least one year prior to competing. This is the same level used for all female athletes so that intersex athletes doesn’t have an advantage (like Semenya) there are much evidence that the advantages men have over women in most sports disappear when testosterone blockers (or castration) and estrogen supplements are used for a long period of time.) Trans men can compete with men without any testing as long as they qualify. (Which I don’t completely agree with...) It is possible to wear makeup and still be aware of the sexism inherent in makeup and that presenting feminine can give you advantages over other women. I’ve seen radical feminists use beautiful as an insult??!?!? When people say trans people should use the bathroom of their birth sex to protect women from men disguising themselves as men they forget trans men (especially those who have been on testosterone for a long time) They forget how trans women who have fully transitioned will be treated in the men’s room. This is why I think there should be men’s, women’s, handicapped, and gender neutral restrooms, also the changing table should be in the neutral restroom. Changing the women’s room to a neutral room is not the way to go, I get that they usually have the changing table that men should also have access to, but it’s still not the way to go. It’s possible to not be a radical feminist and still be against porn. It’s possible to not support sex work and still support sex workers as individuals. There is a middle point between completely illegal and completely legal (like the Nordic model.) Sex based oppression can be real, while trans women can experience sexism, it’s just not entirely the same, like yeah they’re not gonna be forcefully sterilised or becomes child bride, but most women in the first world aren’t either. But that day to day sexism? Like catcalling, mansplaining, being seen as less capable, being paid less for the same job (if they’ve changed legal gender). Oh, it’s also possible to be trans and not adhering to gender stereotypes, or adhering to them, but not actually wanting to, but being called a faker or misgendered if they don’t. (Seriously if I wouldn’t be treated even worse than I already am if I presented more feminine I totally would.) (I’ve had people say I can’t be a trans man because I have long nails, when the reason is just that I can’t be bothered to cut them, also they’re useful for removing plastic and doing origami.) It’s possible to not misgender someone while calling them an asshole or a criminal. The world is shades of gray, not black and white. I left tumblr because I was tired of this, and now it’s taken over Pinterest as well. I just want to get some craft inspiration without being told I’m not human. Is that too much to ask for?
