Wanted to make a video based on the idea of, what did Meteion see when she and the WoL had their final encounter in Ultima Thule. So I made this fun video and put it towards the lovely but emotional music of Dynamis.
Mongolian Throat Singing accompanied by a Morin Khuur. Song was used in the new Stellaris Nomads OST with a more electronic background music to the vocals.
But definitely fits with the Xaela Tribes and I can easily picture them regularly doing throat singing while playing.
-------
Yesuntei is a rather good singer in my head canon though not formally trained outside of her tribe. Makes me think she uses her more natural higher voice at times when singing but can easily switch to a lower tone than one would expect due to using her throat, as well as sometimes just doing traditional throat singing while she plays her Morin Khuur.
So she has a fairly good range, though despite her talent at singing she is a bit shy with it. Like in her tribe she was confident in doing traditional music and song for gatherings. However since being exiled she is a bit more self-conscious, and even with her singing since she's seen how different music and singing in other parts of the world are. She's fascinated by it and has picked up some new skills by emulating other singers she's seen, but she doesn't have the same confidence with those skills as she does with the ones she learned with her tribe. And given how different song is elsewhere she's not confident to really show others her traditional singing since she doesn't know how it'd be received.(No doubt it would be enjoyed but the brain isn't always rational.) Leads to situations of people hearing someone singing in the free company, enjoying the voice but never finding the person singing it because Yesuntei will either just vanish or will have stopped singing by the time someone shows up and pretend she doesn't know about any singing.
Though at some point someone will probably catch her in the act and leave her flustered.
First Meeting Hamon Holyfist
Hamon: Heh heh…Past time you got your arse back here. Well? What did the dancer have to say about my… proposition? Me: “Ugh….this guy is gonna just be a freaking perverted old man stereotype.”
Reaching the End of the Pugilist Story.
Me
Every villain is a bad ass, until they realize just what an extremely pissed off WoL Yesuntei can do with her enormous aether reserves and all the skills she's picked up over time.
Alphinaud and Alisaie Leveilleur (2021, Remastered 2025)
This would fit so well for Taliss as a Villain song if she went off to the deep end.
My best girl
So this is totally how Yesuntei would respond to someone commenting on her gear.
I do love the vibe of the Animation of this, its kind of how I picture Yesuntei's demeanor. Soft spoken but very determined when she needs to be.
The fight between Ichigo and Gin Ichimaru with them actually talking a bit and such though some of the lengthier dialogue was cut out. But Gin here really embodies Taliss's fighting style and how she operates(Minus having a magic sword that can extend 13kms). Being psychological while never revealing the full truth of what she's doing. It's worth noting here that despite Gin saying he won't hold back, he's actually not taking this fight seriously, but he does have a specific intent on what he is doing and it actually isn't to kill Ichigo.
Qestir Communication
I have remarked in the past that giving the Qestir Face Masks as a visual indicator of them being the silent tribe was a silly decision. Since it restricts the amount of body language a Qestir can do in the traditional sense.
Though watching some of the initial Azim Steppe cutscenes with them and knowing more about how the world works since we met the Xaela of the Steppe has given me an idea. Since as a fully developed Tribe they do have to be able to communicate advanced ideas to one another. Otherwise their entire tribe would fall apart, and the game using parenthesized dialogue to indicate the speaking of their intent.
It's fairly safe to assume that the Qestir do not use sign language in my opinion as sign language is for all intents and purposes a way of speaking and communicating when verbal words wouldn't work. So I personally see it falling under their Words Are Lies motif.
However my idea is that the Qestir communicate via their Aether, or Dynamis. Since both can influence other beings in different manners. And the Echo lets us see the memories of Aether etched upon the world and on people's souls.(Not to mention lets us understand everyone's intentions when they speak essentially)
So I don't think it is far fetched at all that the Qestir learned how to communicate their intentions and ideas with their Aether and/or Dynamis. Like not in words, but utilizing body language they unconsciously communicate using them. Hence why people tend to understand what the Qestir mean unless they are a particular dense dunderhead that is close-minded to begin with.
It at least makes the masks less silly since they are utilizing Aether/Dynamis in their body language to communicate, and it doesn't fall under words are lies because they are communicating their actual intentions and emotions.
But that's just a thought I had after musing for a bit.
"This is Mister Gage's Office, not the dining hall, so I will ask that you pick up your food and take it elsewhere," The willowy Xaela woman remarked, hands upon her hips and a mildly disinterested look as if she had performed this dance and song before.
As there were certain members of the Company that tried to play little pranks on Erick, by messing with his office, eating food and leaving the dishes inside among other things. All the while snickering to themselves thinking they got him good. It really was amateur level pranks to her, she might of let them get away with such things if they were more amusing. Alas she was suppose to keep things orderly and leaving food around was how you got ants, least that's what Erick had shouted at one time or another. What was delightful fun however, was seeing their reaction when they were about to leave the office and she spoke up from behind them suddenly, when the room had been empty. Or at least they'd thought it was, she was never going to explain that talent of hers.
I just like the Auri
Yesuntei: "Not our fans." C'oretta: "When you mess with our fans..." Karasawa: "We need to make it hurt."
Tagging @driftward @autumnslance for their Characters Karasawa and C'oretta in the Eorzean Huntrix. Hunting down Primals and keeping the fans safe from Tempering.
Yesuntei is good at looking unassuming. Then she pulls out the Magic.
This would be Taliss's Arcadion theme song for hyping up the audience. The Swordmaster who at first glance seems rather predictable, but wait...what did she just do and why is her opponent on edge? (She'd honestly be Gin Ichimaru in this particular video, the White Clad guy, his fighting style is definitely more like Taliss, extremely proficient and filled with half truths and lies of ommision. Coupled with constant banter while attacking to unnerve her foe. Gin psyched Ichigo out so badly with how his blade can extend extremely fast that he even pretended to be about to shoot his blade at Ichigo making him flinch only to go "Just kidding.")
