I can't speak to exactly what might've been going on in james ransone's life and what ultimately caused him to do that since I obviously didn't personally know him, but what I will say is that the legal system failed him so spectacularly that it certainly can't have helped. in 2021 he was brave enough to come forward about his assault (and even share details of it) by his tutor, timothy rualo, when he was 12 years old and the county police shrugged and said "can't prove it, sorry" and there was literally nothing done about it. and to my knowledge timothy rualo is still working as a fucking teacher. it kills me to know that james ransone never lived to see justice for it and that it might've pushed him towards this.

I would like to add on to this and say that with all that’s going on with the Epstein files, it couldn’t have helped.

He spoke up against a person in power sexually assaulting him as a child and nothing was done. He’s seeing everyone around the world speak up for children that were sexually assaulted by people in power and knowing nothing will ever be done to hold them accountable.

That’s triggering as all hell and the system failed him and most everyone else who has gone through it. I’m not saying this is the sole cause, but holy shit I can guarantee it didn’t help.

Whatever you say about him, how good and actor he was, I can only think about how he was a tiny skinny junkie, actively on heroin, and he still scared off a man trying to rape his neighbour, told his girlfriend to call the cops, took off after the guy armed with a steel pipe, ignored the guy when he mimed having a gun, hit him with the pipe and in doing so slipped into a glass door and cut himself up

his portrayal of eddie kaspbrak is severely underrated. james eagerly stepped into the not-so-big shoes of a beloved character with such genuine enthusiasm and passion. i don’t care how many jokes he made about not studying for the role, he had every hand gesture, voice intonation, and quirk of eddie kaspbrak down to a science.

he understood the nuance of the character set before him. his eddie was a bundle of nerves, with a burst of confidence. an irritable, grouchy shell with a soft interior. a loyal, kindhearted guy who would do anything to protect his friends.

in It 2, he balanced the funny and the serious. the bravery and the fear. the joyful and the devastating.

hollywood is hard. showbiz is hard. likely made so much harder by all the terrible things it seems he’d gone through. it’s heartbreaking to know he wasn’t happy in the end, but i really hope he was able to find some peace and joy in his life. i hope he had as much fun playing eddie as i had watching him. it takes courage to step into something so big and so loved and make it your own. i just hope his loved ones will be able to heal from this loss. 💔

Why’d you do it, man? Your kids need their father…your wife needs her husband. You deserved so much better than the hand you were dealt. Your legacy will live on in your movies, shows and music. I hope to god you’ve found peace because we all know you needed it. This shit absolutely sucks and I hope his family is able to heal

There aren’t a whole lot of celebrity deaths that affect me anymore but fuck. This one cuts deep. Reach out to your loved ones, check on your people and if you’re feeling suicidal, depressed or just not quite right, reach out to someone, anyone. Friends, family, suicide hotlines, the fucking cashier at the grocery store for fucks sake but suicide is not the answer. Please get help. Death is so final and such a permanent solution to very permanent situations.
