having recently watched the odyssey and seeing people getting back into their ancient greek/percy jackson hyperfixations, i don’t know why but having a chinese mythology/journey to the west phase as a kid instead of the usual greek mythology phase was just so much more interesting for me like i still remember watching havoc in heaven for the first time and realising how a temperamental immortal monkey who manages to piss off the entire chinese pantheon by getting incredibly drunk at a peach banquet genuinely seemed more interesting to tween me than reading about some directionally challenged war veteran in english class
