The Fisher camera dolly is an impressively designed tool for helping obtain all sorts of smooth motion. It’s also very, very heavy.

All those nice shots the camera takes would never exist without the help of this guy. The gaffer coordinates with the Director of Photography and a solid crew to make sure the finished product has just the right mood (and is actually visible, for that matter).

You may not have heard of his job title, but you’ve definitely seen his work. The 2nd 2nd Assistant Camera (no, that’s not a typo) helps the camera team with everything from tracking files and film to making sure the slate is ready for the beginning of each scene. Marker!
Sometimes even the most patient Key Grip gets frustrated with those C-Stands...
Now there’s a job that’s really behind the scenes! The Production Designer plans, gathers materials, and executes the details from foreground to background that make a set believable. She’s not in front of the camera, but her fingerprints are all over everything it sees.
Oftentimes, telling a story begins with building a second one.
