hi i'm noah and i post whump! original content as well as reblogs.

i tag, but not super thoroughly. there is going to be lots of violent and potentially triggering content on this blog, so if that's not your thing, don't follow (and consider blocking me! that's okay).

i don't censor any terms, so any original posts at least can easily have terms filtered. i try to tag for the major elements in each post in some form, but i try to keep the tags short so i don't always tag everything. if you want me to tag something, ask, although i might say no.

whumpee had drank before, but never this much.

they were finally back home after being released from the hospital. they had been prescribed painkillers, but only to take "as needed", per their doctor's instructions. that was useless. everything hurt, and whumpee didn't expect to feel better anytime soon.

so the painkillers sat unopened on the table by the front door, and whumpee instead found themself rummaging through their cabinets in search of alcohol.

they took the biggest bottle of liquor they could find and curled up with it on the sofa. they didn't even bother with a glass; it was easier just to take sips directly from the bottle. the whiskey was sharp and bitter, but eventually their pain began to be smoothed over as the alcohol made its way into whumpee's body.

whumpee woke up groggy, aching, and the most hungover they had ever been. they didn't remember falling asleep. truth be told, they had hoped to build up the courage to drink the whole bottle at once and let their body shut itself down. that would've been easier than figuring out how to keep going from here.

so whumpee just took another sip from the bottle as they got up. they had never drank this much before, but they needed to now, to face living in the aftermath of everything that had happened.

it was anticlimactic, returning home from the hospital. and it felt weird for whumpee 1 to go home alone without whumpee 2 after spending so long trapped together.

they didn't know what to do, alone in their empty, dusty house, and the longer they paced around, the more they could feel panic welling up inside them. hour after hour passed. whumpee 1 hoped that night would at least bring sleep, but their body refused, unable to relax in a once familiar but now unfamiliar place.

they needed a distraction.

they needed a friend.

so whumpee 1 found themself grabbing a bottle of whiskey and getting in their car, and driving the familiar route to whumpee 2's house. they knocked, once, twice. they wondered if they might be asleep, but after a minute, the door opened.

"hey," was all whumpee 1 could manage at first. "uh, I could really use a drink?" they held up the whiskey with a halfhearted smile.

whumpee 2 hestiated, but nodded. "yeah." they sounded tired. "me too."

whumpee was covered in scars from whumper. this they knew; they remembered the (days? week? months?) of torture as a painful haze. nearly their whole body was wrapped in bandages for the first few weeks of recovering in the hospital. as they finally began to heal, though, whumpee finally got to see their scarred skin, revealing to whumpee's horror:

whumper had carved their name into whumpee's arm.

whumpee could live with the other scars, the layers of cuts and burns and abrasions that covered their body. but having a permanent reminder of the horrors they had gone through was something they couldn't stomach.

they tried scratching at the scars, but the nurses wouldn't let them. they wrapped the bandages tighter, chiding whumpee, telling them they needed to let the wounds heal.

what they needed was to get that off of their arm.

so with a stolen scalpel, whumpee cut off their bandages and slowly, painfully, messily scraped off the scarred skin of their arm.

when the nurses made their next rounds to check on whumpee, they found them in a pool of blood on the floor. the scalpel lay discarded next to them. but despite all that, and the immense pain they were in, whumpee wore a satisfied expression, knowing they were one step closer to healing.

the hospital felt like a second round of imprisonment for whumpee.

they were safe from whumper, yes, but they weren't free. IVs and tubes kept them tethered to the hospital bed. bracelets with warnings were tied around their bandaged wrists. nurses checked on them every hour, noting their vitals, adjusting settings on the frightening machines that surrounded the bed, and worst of all, giving whumpee medications that felt far too similar to the drugs whumper had given them to keep whumpee under their control.

at first, whumpee was too weak to protest. they could barely keep their eyes open. but day after day, their strength slowly returned, and with it came the nagging thought that whumpee needed to escape.

whumpee waking up in a hospital bed, disoriented. at first they think whumper has just moved them somewhere, chained them up in a new room, pumping new drugs into their system. but as they slowly awaken, and nurses come into the room to check on them, they finally realize where they are.

are they relieved to be free? to have painkillers softening the aches of the torture whumper inflicted on them?

or does it feel uncomfortable after they spent so long hidden away, locked up by whumper? do they almost miss the familiar sting of infected, unbandaged wounds?

do they feel like they don't deserve to be free?

whumpee can't even tell if whumper has drugged them or if the constant, intense torture has just pushed their mind too far that nothing seems real.

they hear screams that they can only assume are theirs. they see blood, too much blood. their body is wracked with sensations, but they're too detatched to process it as pain. or as their own.

and when a flood of strangers enter the room, with noise and lights, and lift whumpee's broken body onto a stretcher, whumpee assumes that it has to be a hallucination their dying mind created.

whumpee 1 endured evey excruciating second of torture so whumpee 2 wouldn't have to. every cut sliced into their skin, every brand burned into them, every scream they let out, they got through by knowing it was one less moment of pain that whumpee 2 would have to face.

and when whumper returned them to their shared cell after a particularly brutal session, and whumpee 2 was nowhere to be seen, for a blindingly bright moment whumpee 1 thought that their friend had escaped. until whumper saw the look on their face and told them that they had caught whumpee 2 trying to run away... and had killed them.

"you have to go without me." whumpee 1's voice was firm. "only one of us can escape. i'm not in any condition to run, it has to be you."

whumpee 2 shook their head. "no, i'm not going to just leave you here—"

"you have to. please."

the two captives locked eyes. whumpee 2 could see in their gaze that there was no way they were changing whumpee 1's mind, and after a moment of silence they relented.

"okay. but i'm making sure you're rescued too. before anything else."

whumpee 1 nodded. "yeah. of course."

the unspoken 'if you make it out alive' was left unsaid, but it hung in the air between them as silence fell again.

it was almost good, the calm quiet the two whumpees shared between torture sessions. whumper would leave them locked together in their cell, sometimes for hours, sometimes for what seemed like days.

they would tend to each other's wounds, as best they could with the little water and shed shirts they had. they would take turns sleeping, getting much-needed but un-restful rest, knowing at any moment whumper could reappear.

and they talked, when the pain wasn't too bad. anything to pass the time. silly dreams for the 'one day when they got out' future.

and, at the times when the pain was too present to ignore, they cried, finding reassurance from the only other person who could understand everything that their sobs meant.

"whose turn is it?"

whumper offers the two whumpees a choice. as if there is a choice. whumpee 1 always volunteers, every time. they can't let whumpee 2 get hurt. they couldn't bear to see their friend in pain, even for a moment.

and they're successful in keeping them safe... until one day, whumper no longer offers, but drags whumpee 2 out of the cell, leaving whumpee 1 screaming their friend's name as they watch them get dragged away to endure the same brutal torture they've been subjected to for so long.

two whumpees who are friends are kidnapped together. one of them immediately makes themself a target to whumper, insulting them, laughing at their threats, spitting in their face — anything to keep whumper from hurting their friend.

(bonus points if whumper hurts their friend anyway. maybe even because they realized how much they care?)

a whumpee who is not just protective of their friend who is/was a fellow whumpee, but overprotective to the point of being self-sacrificial.

during their imprisonment, taking every ounce of whumper's wrath in the vain hope that whumpee 2 will make it out unharmed. and when whumpee 2 is inevitably injured, tending to them before their own injuries.

when the rescuers come, refusing to leave whumpee 2's side as they're put on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance. the medics have to sedate them to give them the medical attention they need.

in the hospital, insisting on visiting whumpee 2's room as often as the nurses will let them. when they're put on bedrest, sneaking out of their room, tearing out their IVs in the process.

when they're sent to the psych ward for their trauma, refusing to eat or speak until they can see whumpee 2 again. and when the staff refuse a visit, attempting to escape.

hating the drugs whumper gave them, the painkillers the doctors give them, refusing anything that could help them relax, because it means not being on alert for threats.

when they finally return to their homes, not knowing how to return to a "normal" life. what purpose do they have, if not to keep whumpee 2 safe?

just... whumpee dealing with the constant fear that if they're not there to protect them, whumpee 2 will get hurt.

and for bonus points... whumpee 2 who feels immeasurable guilt for all of this. they didn't ask for whumpee to sacrifice themself. they can see how much they're hurting. so whenever they're able to, they try to do the same for whumpee. one of them has to make it out okay, right?

whumpee who won't speak.

they won't speak when whumper tortures them. they don't want to give them the satisfaction of hearing whumpee beg and plead for mercy — or they bite their tongue knowing that if they speak, they might make their fate worse.

they won't speak to their rescuers, or the hospital staff, or the well-meaning but unhelpful therapists that visit them. the questions they're asked are either meaningless or trigger the still-painfully fresh memories of their captivity and torture.

they won't speak to their friends/caretaker/team when they return home. how could they even begin to describe what happened to them? how will their loved ones react? they don't want them to worry more than they have already, despite the aching desire to talk to someone who can comfort them.

additionally: whumpee who loses speech.

maybe they already lost speech on occasion, during stressful moments, or maybe what they went through triggered it for the first time.

being unable to speak is terrifying for whumpee. they feel helpless — but, of course, they already were. so maybe in some ways, it feels like a small spark of power. no one can make whumpee speak, no matter how much they try.
