For money money, the most interesting thing about this confrontation is how completely it inverts the final scenes of a typical Disney film. In most cases, the hero is physically and/or supernaturally outmatched, and triumphs through determination and ingenuity; here, the villain spends the the whole fight running scared, while the protagonist casually no-sells everything that’s thrown at him. And there’s no ironic Disney Death keeping the protagonist’s hands clean, either. Jack just straight-up murders Oogie with malice aforethought while Oogie is running away - and by having Santa Claus himself strike the final blow, the film legitimises Jack’s killing of Oogie as the morally correct course of action.

That’s like saying “my kids can’t listen to rap, so I demand rappers to censor their words. Poetry wasn’t made for vulgar.”
Comic books were not created for kids. The government formed The Comics Code Authority in 1954 to ban all children unfriendly comic books because they found that kids were reading them and were afraid it was going to make them murderers. Not coincidentally, it is at this time that when comic books were desensitized that women and girls became the minority consumers.
We’ve since done away with The Comics Code Authority because it is ridiculous. It ruined comics by trying to make them for children.
Again, not coincidentally, we see women and girls have become greater consumers of comic books since the ban was done away with.
So
#1 Comic books are not for children just as movies and books are not for children. Children’s comic books are for children.
#2 The only time comic books were a boys only club was when the government forced it to be a child only club

does anyone else secretly have that “i liked it before it was cool” complex but wont admit it
it’s more along the lines of “you guys were fucking making fun of me for liking this before it was cool” kinda complex
Also a “I super excitedly tried to show this to you years ago and you brushed it off and now you think you introduced it to me and that is infuriating” kinda complex
