This blog is about very random Zamonia content. Damn, more people need to read these books. I don’t know how people live without knowing of Rala. I couldn’t!

The Zamonia fandom. Go ahead.

You are literally my first anon ever! I started this blog like a month ago so. Felicitations, anon! Okay, here goes:

First character I fell in love with: Homuncolossus. Yeah I had a crush on a murderous paper man. Somebody shoot me.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Inazea

The character that everyone loves but I don’t: Rumo. He’s just kinda boring

The character I love that everyone else hates: Eißpin/Ghoolion. I mean I don’t love him like I want to make out with him, but he’s compelling as a character with all his backstory and shit

The character I used to love but not any longer: Hildegunst/Optimus. Sorry! In CoDB he was a cool guy, bit of a worryer, but badass at heart. In the second book he had grown into a massive dick.

The character I would totally smooch: Friftar. Hell yeah bby

The character I’d want to be like: Izanuela, because she’s the Zamonian equivalent of a feminist and that’s cool. Also she’s body positive & just a good person. The way she falls in love with that guy but still helps the people in her hometown fight against him and his diseases, putting her own life at risk, because she won’t let her love make her blind to the horrible things Eißpin does. Role model.

The character I’d slap: Volzotan Smyke for changing for the worse so much. He was a good guy to Rumo, but some years later he’s evil to Bluebear. Wonder what happened there that screwed his moral compass up.

A pairing that I love: Frifnab. Hildecolossus. Inazea/Kibitzer. Ukobach/Ribesehl.

A pairing that I despise: None, really. Rumo/Rala was kind of boring, but eh.

And so I did.

First character I fell in love with: Friftar. I was 15 back then. And head over heels for him. Like, he was teh smeks. Roughly said, I wanted to be a Helling and smooch him forever. Like, really. And then fans talk about how sexy Snape is and I would probably have screamt HELL NO NINNIES AN EVEN SEXIER ONE EXISTS, FRIFTAR PWNS (…..and I THINK I might have got a similar (maybe not as insane but still) crush on Eisspin too if I had found Alchemaster’s Apprentice back then and not last year. Oh boy)

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Abdullah Nightingtale. Okay, I liked him real lot in Rumo too, but when I finally read Bluebear last autumn, I could have never ever expected that he would be THAT badass, THAT awesome, THAT funny. Golly, he’s my fave char in that book, ever. Nightingtale owns Zamonia.

The character that everyone loves but I don’t: Meh, not really anyone. There are characters I like more than other characters, but overall there’s no character in Zamonia books I haven’t found ANYTHING likable in.

The character I love that everyone else hates: Pretty much the same as madam-reveuse: Succubius Eisspin.

The character I used to love but not any longer: At least right now, no one comes into my mind. But I agree with madam-reveuse that Hilde had become quite a whiny spoiled (middle-aged) brat in LoDB. I did find it funny sometimes and I think it’s quite well played by Moers: usually main characters just get BETTER when they grow up instead of negative character development. But yeah. There were moments when I wanted to slap him.

The character I would totally smooch: Pffffft. Okay. If it’s obligatory. Hahahahue. Let’s pretend I never wrote this. Ahem. Friftar. Eisspin. Nightingtale. Uschan DeLucca. Maestro Corodiak. Homuncolossus. Hildegunst.

The character I’d want to be like: Hildegunst is in the first book so unperfect and relatable, totally not something who would be expected to become some day one of Zamonia’s greatest writers. Even though all of the both artistic and personality flaws, he manages to experience the Orm. That’s something I like.

The character I’d slap: Same with madam-reveuse. Smeik, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED BETWEEN THE EVENTS OF RUMO AND BLUEBEAR? Like, did you completely forget your experiences in Netherworld and what the Non-Existent Teenies told you and the father-son relationship with Rumo and overall everything that made you a decent person? Or WAS IT even the same Volzotan Smeik? Gosh I don’t even know. What’s worse, I read Rumo before Bluebear, at the age of 12 and Smeik was definitely one of my late childhood heroes. So cute what he did to Bluebear and to Rumo and everyone around him in Atlantis.

A pairing that I love: Drumrolldrumrolldrumroll. Beware: long list ahead.

Rumo: Frifnab, Volzotan Smeik(that badass and a bit sad mentor from Rumo, not the asshole from Bluebear)/Oztafan Kolibril, Ukobach/Ribesehl, Rumo/Rala, Jodl von Berg/Harra von Midgard, Dandelion/Krindle and the personal bootiful crack, Friftock.

CoDB: Hildecolossus, Kibitzea.

And then there’s a whole ton of other ships but those are so shameful I’ll probably never have the courage to tell about them here

A pairing I despise: meh, not really anything.

First character i fell in love with:

Rala. I didn’t realise it back then,though. (First when my bisexual ass got older) I always thought she was the best and almost only female character. But looking back on it now, yep that was definitely a crush😅

The character i never expected to love as much as i do now:

Volzotan Smyke! Bluebear was my first Zamonia book, and i hated him there. But when i first read Rumo, he actually became one of my favourites.SMYKE WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU YOU WERE ONE OF THE ONLY NICE SMYKES DUDE ARE YOU OKAY? YOU GOT ISSUES

The character that everyone loves but i don’t:

Maybe Izanuela? But i don’t hate her, i just think she’s a bit of a boring character. Like, GIRL?! WHY WERE YOU HEAD OVER HEELS FOR EISSPIN?! HE LITERALLY TRIED TO KILL YOU! AND AT THE END HE DID KILL YOU! GIRL?!

The character that i love but everybody else don’t:

I can’t think of anyone. This fandom is crazy. We either find a reason to all completely admire a character OR just collectively agree that we want to murder them. Theres no in between.

THE BLASTED DIGITAL CAMERA CRASHED AND RUINED THE FIRST DOODLE

I’ll fix it when I get the chance. Anyway.

KIBITZER AND INAZEA. <3 They were my absolute second place City of Dreaming Books OTP, but reading Labyrinth made them share the first Place with Hildegunst/Homuncolossus for me.

I can’t get over how beautiful their relationship is, especially in Labyrinth. Heck, that chapter following that sad SPOILER event made me cry. I just love how they argued all the time and disagreed about each other’s literary tastes, and still Hachmed treated Inazea like a regular person, unlike Ugglies normally are treated. (considering that he’s a NOCTURNOMATH who dislikes anything pseudo-scientific) Pshew, old married couple, I say.

Also, the fact that Inazea had started to take care of Hachmed after the events of CoDB is too much for my feel and cutesy meter. The second pic is one of my ship scenarios about them which was inspired by that detail. Inazea finds Hachmed, who has fallen asleep at his own work desk after 72 hours of nonstop studying of Nightingtale’s essays. Aaaand she gets some soft thoughts about the tiny doctor and just needs to do the thing in the pic. Luckily Hachmed won’t hear her thoughts as he’s asleep but they’ll probably drill down into his three brains.

Hey zamonia fandom! Remember when I said I would write a high school AU? Well guess what…I just finished the first chapter…! And yeah, there will be even more chapters! Please note that this is a crackfic. It’s as far from serious as can be. I went with the German names for people when I couldn’t find the English ones, also I used “Hildegunst” instead of “Optimus” because that’s just what I’m used to. I hope you get some enjoyment out of all of this, even though I feel like it’s not the best I can do, style-wise.

And yes, I’m totally starting this like any dumb high school themed anime…

I wish I could live in Zamonia, this fantastic world, that author Walter Moers brought us a lil bit closer. With all this funny, crazy creatures and hilarious stories. I love it <3

Everytime I read the books, I try to find a mistake, because sometimes the same characters are there, or you read about a place, that you’ve heard before some time. But no way. No mistakes, everything just matches perfect together. Walter Moers is one of my heroes. My favourite author and can’t wait for the next book, a new story from Zamonia. :)
