I usually don’t make posts like this but after some consideration, I’ve decided to make this because there are a lot of Dragon Prince fans that aren’t aware of this and this information is important.
Two weeks ago, it’s come to light that Aaron Ehasz, a head writer of Avatar: The Last Airbender and the co-creator of The Dragon Prince, has had a history of misogynistic, gaslighting, and abusive behavior (here’s another article). While the threads are linked in the article, I’ll also link the tweet threads here:

Sometime after the news came out, Giancarlo Volpe, an executive producer at Wonderstorm and also a director/producer on The Dragon Prince, not only left TDP but also Wonderstorm as well (x). I would like to add that Lasrado has stated that Volpe’s a cool dude and a great ally (x). Sadly, it appears that Volpe wasn’t respected when working at Wonderstorm (and after).
Since these allegations, Ehasz came out with a statement…It wasn’t very good (if you’re doing things that are similar to what people have accused you of doing in your apology, it’s not a good apology). (x)
Considering this tweet Harrod made, it appears Ehasz still hasn’t changed. Not to mention, these tweets made by Sheena McFeely regarding Amaya also confirm that Ehasz doesn’t listen to those that live the experiences of characters he creates:( x), (x), (x), (x)

Although this next part is in the second article, I’m still putting it in the post: Ehasz has also been shown chatting with a fan about Claudia’s sexuality, claiming that Claudia’s bi (x). Harrod retweeted the thread by explaining that not only is Claudia being bi not true, whenever someone suggested Claudia not being straight, Ehasz would shut the idea down: (x). Not only is this unprofessional (Harrod has even stated she warned Ehasz not to privately DM fans (x) and Harrod herself had to ignore this fan because there’s no main LGBT rep (x)), but it’s also extremely manipulative.
Here’s a mini thread that a fan made talking about Ehasz lying to him about the reason Harrod and Younes left Wonderstorm: (x) (for clarification: the reason for the date being in August is because the fan in question made tweets back in August wondering why female employees were leaving Wonderstorm and having concern over their well-being)

Despite all of this, the women that have come forward have said they don’t want fans to boycott Dragon Prince: (x), (x), (x). They’ve also stated many times that a majority of those working at Wonderstorm are very nice people, it’s just that there are a couple bad apples at the top.
DON’T harass/send death threats to Ehasz and people that still work at Wonderstorm, the VAs, and people that run the official TDP twitter/Tumblr accounts Harassment and death threats NEVER do anything and just. Why. Why even do that? That’s not and has never been cool.
A TDP fan has created a Discord as a way for fellow fans to discuss creating a joint statement requesting Ehasz to write a better apology and as a way to stand with the women who’ve come forward: (x), (x)
I genuinely love TDP. I find the story and characters so wonderful, but due to Ehasz’s current behavior, I think I’m taking a break until further notice.
Regardless of whether or not you’ll continue watching TDP, please believe the women that have come forward and spread/reblog this information around.

I’m not saying I would boycott but for personal reasons will not be continuing to follow the show. It has left a bitter taste in my mouth but also die hard fans shouldnt feel they have to boycott but also if people wanna do that or leave behind the tdp fandom, let those former fans do that. Support them as well. We have been mislead, dooped and taken advantage of by Aaron Ehasz. This is a lot we gonna have to process unfortunately.
I’m saying this as lgbt woman of color. I feel betrayed how Aaron Ehasz used representation for our communities as a marketing tool for his own gains, not for something genuine and real care for people’s lives.

Considering everything that's come out about aaron and the way he has treated his women employees, I can not in good conscience continue to watch or post about the dragon prince, at least not until aaron has been fired or other such measures are taken to ensure that no more people suffer the way Danika and Lulu suffered and to show that wonderstorm are taking the matter seriously.
The things that have come out so far have disgusted and sickened me on so many levels. I apologise if you followed me solely for tdp content, but feel free to unfollow me if you wish. I have nothing but support for Danika and Lulu, and am horrified as well as heartbroken at the mortifying treatment that they endured.
Please do not let this get swept under the rug or forgotten about. Voice your concerns and anger about this happening, and at it even being allowed to happen in the first place. Nobody should have to go through what these women went through. #supportourwonderwomen

so let’s talk about this for a second. i have SO many things to say in reply to both what’s happened & to kuno’s post.
starting with aaron: if you’re defending aaron rn or thinking anything along kuno’s post, unfollow me this goddamn moment. pls & thanks. there are now three women talking about experiences w/ aaron and one of them is from BEFORE wonderstorm. and all of these women experienced it for YEARS. i don’t care that TDP is ‘more than one person’— there are other people on the team who are disgusting, too! giancarlo volpe, who works on the show with aaron, draws borderline nsfw art of minors. below is a picture he drew of kataara from ATLA as a hooters waitress.
that’s not one, but TWO major people from TDP exhibiting disgusting behaviour. does that not set a tone for the rest of the crew who is planning on staying despite everything that’s happened?
another thing is that there is no excusing aaron’s behaviour. we cannot allow that to happen, because even if it was ‘unintentional’ from his side, he gaslit multiple women and made them feel unsafe in the workplace. in danika’s account, lulu had to say outright that she was scared of meeting with aaron one-on-one to his face, and he still brought her to the side for a one-on-one meeting. this is not something that can be waved off with ‘he didn’t know’. according to danika, lulu, and a third woman on twitter who worked with aaron before wonder storm, his behaviour was brought up multiple times, and each time he waved it off.
regarding kuno’s point of ‘people will lose jobs over this’— people are already losing their jobs over this. danika was unemployed for two whole months after she left wonderstorm. people who don’t want to be apart of this anymore are probably already looking for other jobs, and the people who support aaron will most likely get other jobs after this. this isn’t aaron making a comment that people are taking the wrong way, this is multiple women speaking out about the abuse and gaslighting they experienced working with or under aaron.
not to go completely off in this post either, but we should not be using JKR or VLD as examples of things with problematic creators and content that people still support. JKR is highly transmisogynistic and her books contained a lot of racism and antisemitism, where as VLD intentionally baited their viewers only to bury their gays, and was full of racism that went under the radar. VLD and JKR are problematic for different reasons and are not why we should let this go. we shouldn’t let go of what they did either.
in all, there are so many reasons why you should drop TDP as soon as you fucking can. because if you’re going to continue supporting the show, you’re giving the women who have come forward a big FUCK YOU to the face. there is a reason these women are coming out about their experiences with aaron. the question now isn’t whether or not we should support them, it’s how.
tl;dr aaron ehasz is sexist and homophobic and if we let this slide under the radar, we’re letting the women who suffered and spoke out against this down. for more info on what i didn’t talk about, @moonshxdows covers those points very well in her reply to kuno’s post.

so its obvious im not going to get any work done being as upset as i am so. this is, again, going to be long and rambly as shit only now its gonna be angrier :)
to start this off, i would like to say, from the bottom of my heart, fuck tdp, fuck wonderstorm, and especially fuck aaron ehasz. this shit was bad when i first heard about it back in august and its only gotten worse. the fact that the women who made this fandom as fun as it was for me- danika and lulu- were being treated so terribly makes me indescribably angry and upset. the two of them, and danika especially, were such a big part of my tdp experience, and i fully put my support behind them and the other women at wonderstorm.
so, in that thread, i will not be watching season three. i will not be talking about season three. and while i cannot tell anyone else how to live their lives, i ask that you dont either. its no longer a show that i can support, despite how much i used to love it.
i just. cant really express how angry i am because of all of this. tdp was propped up as a show for diversity, and knowing that they did all of this is fucking vile and makes me so incredibly sad. but we have to remember to keep danika and lulu in our minds when discussing this- dont give aaron or wonderstorm a reason to try and go after either of them for legal reasons. boycott the show, but dont escalate it into something that can be held as defamation in court.
this post doesnt have as much of a point as the last time, but i feel that putting my thoughts on this out is just as important. i will be keeping the blog and change it to a general fandom/animation blog once i have the time and energy, along with some raydia because i found a lot of comfort in that ship.

If you haven’t seen it already, Danika and Lulu (both of whom used to run DPO, and Lulu was on the writers team) have opened up about the reasons they quit Wonderstorm, who makes The Dragon Prince. It’s absolutely appalling. The way the company, especially Aaron Ehasz, is treating their female staff and employees in general... it’s disgusting.
I wasn’t sure what to do. I love TDP, from the story to the art style to (most of) the team. However, I am not going to put a show over the mental health of the women who essentially built our community. I remember Danika’s DPO, and how engaged and supportive she was of the budding fandom. Lulu continued on for her, continuing where Danika left off. It’s time to give back to these amazing women, and all of the other nameless employees suffering in Wonderstorm, and to show them that our community will always be there for them.
I want to start a movement in our community. Season 3 is fast approaching, and it’s a crucial time for Wonderstorm. If they want to continue The Dragon Prince, they need the fanbase to call for the next season. In retaliation, I will not be posting anything about season 3. I will not encourage anyone to watch the show. I will not be creating or reblogging posts about TDP in general, except to bring light to the issues at hand.
Until there is some kind of action within Wonderstorm taken, especially surrounding Ehasz, I’m encouraging every TDP blog, twitter account, instagram account, etc, to follow suit and refrain from posting TDP under the hashtag #SupportOurWonderWomen , to support the women who have been brave enough to come forward.
We need to band together as a community. We all have something in common, and that’s the fact that we love this show. But we cannot love unconditionally. This is our greatest test as a fan base.
I know it seems over dramatic, but please spread the word! I can’t do this alone.
