I haven’t cried over an actor or actress passing away in a long time, but I’m bawling my eyes out right now.

but yeah, tell me again how Rhaenys is completely over being passed over for the Throne. Tell me again that it doesn't hurt every single time she's reminded. Tell me how she wouldn't change it, if she could.
the entire notion of her being “over” it has never sat right with me, i feel it’s just her repressing so deep down it because it’s such a raw wound; a scab failing to heal because it’s picked at ceaseless. she’s made so aware of it every day of her life, whenever corlys mentions it in ire or she is called “the queen who never was,” that moniker that shall remain her legacy, to be remembered as the thing she wasn’t.
rhaenys was raised knowing she would succeed after her father, chose corlys as not only her husband but as her future consort, imagined her firstborn child to wear the crown she'll pass on.. that’s not something one can simply forgive and forget.
She's saying she's over it in order to pacify Corlys, at that moment. I think she never gets over it, nor do I believe she ever, in heart-of-hearts, stops wanting it or wishing it had been different. But she recognises that chasing it only brings her pain and only damages their family and whatever Corlys thinks, having their blood on the Iron Throne does not make up for that original rejection. It doesn't undo her hurt. It is justice for him but it doesn't mean satisfaction for her. For Corlys, the wound is against her = against their House = against him. For her, the wound is always against her. It's personal.
For Corlys, legacy is why he lives his life. Securing their legacy. But Rhaenys's legacy is cemented. She can never change it. Whatever she does, however high she then climbs, she will always be "The Queen Who Never Was". Her epitaph was chosen when she wasn't even halfway through her life.
And it is constantly picked at. And when it is spoken of, it is never with care for her feelings. Even indirectly, Viserys making Rhaenyra heir is wounding. It changes it from being a rejection due to not being a man, to a rejection due to her not being enough. And no one understands that, least of all Rhaenyra herself, who only scorns her. So how could one possibly ask for all the grace it would muster to not have negative feelings towards this young girl?
We don't know how Rhaenys felt about Rhaenyra, about her claim, or about any of the events. We never know from the book if she was always on Rhaenyra's side or not. Rhaenys isn't mentioned in the entirety of Viserys's reign, unless tangentially, as part of a unit with Corlys. Not until she joins the Black Council.
There are no scenes with Rhaenyra and Rhaenys at all. House of the Dragon has had to start from scratch. And I think they've done a good job in portraying the complexities that come from a woman who has been through what Rhaenys goes through and yet still hopes for the future, but hopes that it could have been her and feels it should have been her.
Rhaenys was raised to be Queen; there is no way she’s not politically savvy enough to know what the implications of her so much as suggesting she’s not over it would have — for herself, for Corlys, for her children, for the people at large. While I firmly believe she ain’t over shite, she knows she doesn’t have a choice in acting as if she is, and in saying that she is, because the consequences of not being over it would be intolerable.
The palpable frustration we get from her in talking to Rhaenyra is just the first sign. But it goes beyond that. It’s not just the implications that she wasn’t enough, it’s the added weight of that when she looks at Rhaenyra and sees a headstrong young girl who hasn’t had a fraction of the training that she did — because you know Alysanne as well as Aemon would have made sure Rhaenys was raised to understand politics down to her bones. She knows how it works. (She knows, and yet the circumstances have forced her forever to stand outside, because if she doesn’t, then the Dance could well have happened a generation sooner. But instead, she puts on the mask and tells them all she has given up that dream, no matter how it still eats at her, to preserve what she does have. Which makes you wonder, as everything she has sacrificed for is stripped away bit by bit, whether she wonders if it was worth it in the end …)

Also, on a side note rant, can someone explain why the hell the two healthiest relationships in Westeros are the ones which get tagged in every goddamn story and are barely getting mentioned once? And you can't filter out most other relationships bc you end up with a third of the fics. I don't give a single fuck about Jon Snow/something with a pulse or Aemond Targaryen/something with a pulse! GIVE ME MY HAPPILY MARRIED MIDDLE-AGED NEDLYN AND RHAELYS !!!

So funny when people bring up book elements about lucerys and his inheritance and rhaneys, when rhaenys was pro rhaenyra and by extention pro lucerys through and through. Obviously baela inheriting driftmark isn't even a question because it makes no sense inheritance was and considering the last hier left it to lucerys and current lord was pro lucerys.
And not to mention them even being illegitimate might not be true in books. Thank god grrm clarified show canon and book canon aren't same, condom has ruined this story enough
What's funny about that? I think it is valid to compare book and show when Luke was never named heir in the book and when it is actually not clear if Corlys officially named Luke his heir in the show. In the show he definitely wanted him to be heir but there is a difference between just telling Luke and Rhaenys he wants Luke to be heir and to officially declare him as so. That's why Rhaenys still tries to advocate for Baela after the funeral, because Corlys definitely can also name her as heir. Same applies for the book, Corlys could have easily named Baela heir in the book
Even though Rhaenys was more supportive of Rhaenyra in the book there was no being "pro Luke" in the book bc Corlys never named Luke or wanted to name him heir, Luke inheriting was off the table as soon as Corlys recovered.
In the show it was the other way around, Rhaenys was more pro Luke than she was pro Rhaenyra. She mostly supported Rhaenyra bc it was the best way to keep her grandkids safe.
The boys were clearly bastards in the book as much as they were in the show. Pretending otherwise is just ridiculous. There is no maybe/ maybe not. It wasn't just like oh they don't look like Laenor; they didn't look like Rhaenyra or anybody from the Targaryen or Velaryon side of the family either. The only thing that saved them and Rhaenyra was Laenor claiming them to be his. Nothing more.
That some of book canon and show canon aren't the same and that GRRM confirmed or approved of that is true, but what you bring up here doesn't really apply to that in the way you think it does.

Not reading anything further from this because you have clearly never read the two or three pages max that concerns luke or actually watched the show, which is wild why you're even joining in the conversation, your opinion has been disrespectfully dismissed
I don't get these people not only are they watching the show easiest form of media, with eyes closed but also don't even think for a second if he wasn't the hier why was vaemond even petitioning for the hier to be changed.
I suspected a discussion with you would be pointless from how you react to other people on the fandom on different takes.

Yes this useless writer is still alive. I just wanted to let you know again that against the things pointing towards it, I have definitely not abandoned Sing Me A Song. But pretty much a couple of days after my last notice and me finishing a good portion of chapter 9 shit hit the fan with my employer and since then I had a thousand different things on my mind and I had absolutely no muse for writing. And forcing myself to do it would only result in a shit chapter and I don't want that because you and I as well as Rhaelys deserve better.
Things have calmed down now and I have been writing again so there is also some positive thing to say. Thank you all so much for your patience with me and I hope the next chapter will be worth all the waiting❤️
As a little apology and to make it up to you here is a snippet from Chapter 9😊
“Would you help me up?” Rhaenys asked her husband once the Dragonkeepers had left and it was just their family. Corlys held out his hands but pulled them back before Rhaenys could take them. “Only when I’m allowed to build both of them a boat.” “Well, that depends, what size did you have in mind?” “Just a small sailing boat, I promise,” Corlys replied with an innocent smile. Rhaenys decided to believe him even if she knew they had a different definition of small regarding boats. Then she pretended to think about it for a moment but they all knew she would never say anything but yes. “You may build them a boat as long as you don’t make the same mistake as you did with Laenor’s first.” Rhaenys said as Corlys helped her out of the bed. “What do you mean?” Laenor asked his mother confused. “What you think was your first one actually wasn't. Your first boat wasn’t even a boat, it was a Caravel, the Deep Blue. That was until your father realised that a one-year-old might have trouble doing anything on a Caravel other than playing and getting lost resulting in a hasty search to keep me from finding out.” “I found him, that’s all that matters. And the Deep Blue was not the boat I wanted to build for Laenor it was a gift from Vaemond,” Corlys defended himself, but his wife didn’t answer, though he could see a smile on her lips. “Wait, you lost me?” Laenor piped up behind them, turning a little too abruptly for his little brother, causing Daerwyn to protest and for Laenor to freeze, alarmed that he had done something wrong while Laena giggled. “Only for two hours, and nothing happened, and if I wanted to keep it a secret then I wouldn’t have told you.” Corlys pointed out but Rhaenys only shook her head.
"Don't believe I don't know that wasn't the first time my dear." The mother of four whispered as she walked past her husband.
"Oh." was the only response Corlys came up with before a sheepish smile appeared on his face accompanied by a short laugh as he stepped next to his amused looking wife.
Was a VPN the best thing I ever bought? Close to yes.
Was I able to see all three episodes of Maryland because of that? Pretty much.
Was it worth it? You bloody bet it was! I can tell you all who couldn't watch all of them you're in for an absolute treat! Just amazing, I mean for me absolute *chef's kiss*🤌🏼 ✨ but we all knew that.
I'm gonna go watch it again✌🏻
Hey folks just a quick update !
I wasn't able to write much of the next chapter because I had almost no time, first I had family visiting and then I got a short notice for work stuff for which I had to travel to Florida, and didn't take my laptop with me, now our flight back today got cancelled... yippee.
Hopefully we'll be able to make it back home tomorrow. Long story short I am working on the next Sing Me A Song chapter, but it might take a bit longer! Just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten you 😁✌🏻
