I love Gunn's choice of starting out with Lois and Clark three months into their relationship.
Jumping in to a relationship at that point is, for one thing, interesting just as something different. We see characters begin their relationships all the time in movies, we see them later on, but its unusual to have a movie focus specifically on that stage of like having their first fight and deciding if they're serious or not.
But more than that it's a really interesting parallel to where Clark's at in his progress as a superhero. Coming out of sort of the "honeymoon phase" and facing the first real challenge, and needing to evaluate his decisions and his 'mission' and what he's believed about who he is, and how other people factor into that. It's a fascinating parallel.
he's not into people's emotions

Friend: Don't you want to have a romance?
Me: I'm good, I have romance at home.

no but the erasure of brienne's canonical features must be studied. what's with this chronic incapability of accepting that ur faves dont have to be hot in this fandom like. brienne being seen as ugly and unfeminine is pretty integral to her character theres a reason she's mocked as the beauty theres a reason why she started rejecting femininity and feels hurt by it. so much of the misogyny she faces stems from her not fitting the westerosi ideal by not being 'womanly enough', by being too muscular and flat chested and tall and having brittle hair and broad 'manly' features and thats the tragedy of it. brienne shouldn't have to be othered by people for things she cant control but she is and that refusal to accept brienne is what shaped her into what she is when we meet her in a clash of kings. the moment u go 'umm actually ☝️ shes only ugly by westeros standards she wouldn't be seen as ugly today' is when u miss the point. modern day brienne wouldnt fit our standards either because her entire story begins with her being different and an outlier and to keep brienne of tarth as herself u have to keep that too otherwise its not her, its an oc masquerading as brienne the blue
