âI must say, I didnât know what to expect when I first heard of this celebration. â Gilbert noted. âCertainly wasnât this though.â / @fearstreetstartersâ
Deena Johnson.Â
Deena stood outside one of the tents, trying to get through her cigarette as quickly as possible so she could get back in time to watch AmantĂ© in the tournament. She wasnât too worried about missing anything, he always did well. The weather was a bit chilly, but nothing a jacket and gloves couldnât help. Still, she couldnât wait to get back into the warm. âAt least itâs not snowing this year huh?â she said to the person who seemed to have their own reasons for lurking outside the tents as well. âStupid meteors couldnât fall during summer?â
âStill cold as shit,â Grimaced Gilbert, hugging himself into his warm coat. No wonder the expression was hell freezing over. Then again there was also âhot as hellâ so who was to say which was correct. âFreakin meteors.â It was kind of insane to think about, all this for just some meteors. They really must have been some kind of sight. âThey as special as everyone says they are?âÂ
EZRA TURNER. Â
âGot me thereâ Ezra couldnât help but shrug. The campus security didnât fool around which he was grateful for, mostly, at least his friends wouldnât run into any trouble so long as they were around. âOh, you donât have to do thatâ he shook his head quickly. He never really knew what to do when people were nice to him for no reason like that, too used to others needing something from him.Â
âYou still seem pretty exhausted and truly, I donât mind. I have little better to do.â Gilbert remembered what it was like, at his very lowest, and if anyone had showed him kindness back then he would have been so fast to try and reject it. It would have helped him greatly though, which was probably why he wanted to help this young man. âI actually get pretty bored so youâd be doing me a favor by giving me something to do.â Somewhat of a half lie, but hopefully itâd convince the young man.Â
JIN ZHANG.
.
Jin smiled softly âI totally understand, I just thought Iâd offer since you were hard at workâ she set the pot back on the burning before turning her attention back to him. âSo are you a musician?â
âOh you are too kind.â Gilbert grinned, he enjoyed seeing otherâs kindness, it was impressive. It was something heâd become more familiar with after losing his fortunes. âSomething like that, I reach music.â He explained.Â
LILITH. Â
âI was just rambling about work.â She confessed, a smile on her face. It was nice to know someone wanted to listen. Lilith gasped gently as she now can put a name to a face. âYes! I remember you now. You were, like, my favorite teacher! Mr. Norton, right?â
âOh work thatâs the best kind of rambling, Iâm here for it.â In most cases it consisted of complaints, though Gilbert himself found he quite enjoyed his work. Especially when working with people just as enthusiastic as he was. âIâm memorable?â He felt touched at that. âYes thatâs me, Mr. Norton. Though I suppose you could call me Gilbert now if youâd like.â
EZRA TURNER.
.
âApologies. Didnât realize that the nap police was inâ Ezra rolled his eyes, sitting up with a groan as he reached for his folded jacket turned makeshift pillow. âWhatever. Forget it, I just figured that not many people would swing by here at this time, clearly that was my badâ Ezra stood, shrugging the jacket on. âI have a place to goâ he said, perhaps a touch too defensively. âThis was just closer..â
âOh please, if I was campus security you wouldnât even have been questioned. Just thrown out.â That was the case in Gilbertâs own tussles with them at least. He watched the man with a wary gaze, curiosity leaping in his chest and the want to ask questions overpowering. He frowned at the defensiveness, noting it in his head. âIf the place is too far I could offer a ride.â Gilâs own classes didnât start for a few hours, he had been preparing to set himself up early was all but that could be spared for later.
ELIZABETH BROOKS.Â
A small chuckle left Elizabethâs lips at the question that was in reply to his and she couldnât help but nod. He wasnât wrong. Currently all of her days felt long and tiring. âThis comes in close second to just curling up in my bed at the end of the night. But, I donât think anything will ever beat that.â She said with a grin, taking a drink from the beer she was currently working on.
âThat does sound like a quite lovely evening.â For her, that is. Gilbert had no such pleasantries in his own experience. Sleep didnât come easy to him, even if he laid down, lights off and eyes shut. She was a battle for him, and he hardly came out dominate. Most nights he usually remained away until there was just enough drift for him to fall. It was never warm, it was never comfortable. âI personally enjoy a good watching of a good movie in enjoyable company.â
Lilith.
Sheâs rambling on about something, what exactly that is? Just her job. When he asks her what sheâs said she just replies âNothing important.â She smiles at him. âI was just asking where Iâd seen you before. You look familiar. Lilith.â The girl introduces as she holds out her hand. After all the stranger probably wouldnât care much about her job.
âEverythingâs important,â Gilbert said, an instinctual response when you dealt with young people who always declared things unimportant. âAt least to someone. Even if itâs only yourself.â He flashed a grin. âLilith... â He paused, registering the name. âI taught you once, didnât I?â
Jin Zhang.Â
.
âItâs okay, not an issue at allâ Jin replied before holding up the pot of coffee in her hand âI asked if you wanted a refill on your cup of coffee?â
âOh no love, thank you but no thank you. If I refill my coffee I will never get any sleep tonight.â He declared with certainty and a chuckle.Â
EZRA TURNER.Â
.
âAlright, well thatâs my secret nap spot ruined..â Ezra sighed, sitting up as he heard the door opening. âDid you need something?â he asked, raising a brow. He didnât mean to be cranky but heâd pulled a double shift after one of the twilight guys had called out, forgetting that he was also supposed to work in the morning and now he was paying for it.
@fearstreetstartersâ
âHowâbout you not taking a nap in my music room?â Gilbert wasnât possessive of his music room per say, but more so protective. What happened if someone came here wanting to use the instruments but had seen the young man and decided to let his rest? Oh, well now Gil just felt like an ass as the thought processed. âThis... isnât the best chosen room to sleep in. Thereâs comfortable couch in a few classrooms, if you need one.â
âSorry, I zoned out.â He was thinking about his music plan, probably a bit too hard. âWhat were you saying?â / @fearstreetstartersâ
ELIZABETH BROOKS.Â
cursedhomecomingâ:
âDid you have a long day too?â Elizabeth asked the person who had sat next to her at the bar. She wasnât going to say anything, knowing that most of the time when people came to a place like this, they wanted to just drink away their feelings. She knew thatâs what she was doing. But when she heard the person beside her let out an audible sigh, she looked over to them to offer conversation.
Always, every single day of my living life. Yes. It was what Gilbert wanted to say, but it was a bit too dramatic for decent company. So instead he opted for something somewhat similar. âArenât they all?â Casual enough to not be a spectacle but also the honest truth. âthis, perhaps, may be the best part of my day.â Sitting at the bar sharing a conversation with a stranger, how wonderfully mundane.Â
Hey watch your back! Thatâs [GILBERT NORTON]. People say [HE] has lived in [SHADYSIDE] for [SIX YEARS]. I heard they are a [29] year old [MUSIC TEACHER]. Donât you think they look like [ALFIE ALLEN]? They remind me of [never living up to your potential, an album of photos called âreceipts.â, reminding everyone to put a coat on, wearing sunglasses to hide a hangover, vodka in a water bottle ]
