The Watchful Remnants has your back: these beautiful people look just like Lonan, Maria and Eris from the Wattpad story (coming soon). Just some of the many diverse faces in this modern fantasy adventure.Â
Follow for more about them and to read their story for FREE on Wattpad as soon as itâs uploaded. Enjoy đ
Whatâs In A Name? Nyx CaseyÂ
Nyx was named after the Greek goddess and living embodiment of night because of her raven black hair. More even than that though is the family name: Casey. This large Irish family took the Anglicised version of their name O'Cathasaigh when they moved to England. It carries a meaning of âvigilant in warâ and 'watchfulâ - a meaning that suits the family since it is their job to defend us all from the monsters that go bump in the night.Â

Everyone meet Nyx Casey - demon hunting, monster slaying, witchy badass and protagonist of The Watchful Remnants.

Richard Fawkes is a traitor's son with a traitor's name. But in the year 2179, such crimes do not go unnoticed. Someone has to be made an example of and, with his father's suicide, the burden falls to Richard.
The H.M.T. Foundation has long been a favourite of the New British society for three simple reasons: it punishes criminals. It feeds the people. It protects the innocent. Or so the official story goes.
And how does it do that? Well, those convicted of the most evil of crimes are sentenced to death. A slow one. Kept on a farm until you reach maturity at the age of forty and then it's a trip up the hill to the slaughterhouse and the sweet abyss of never opening your eyes to this godforsaken world again.
But people are starting to wake up to it. The terrorist group calling themselves the C.S. are kicking up a fuss. Little does Richard know just how much that will change his life and bring him into a world of guns, fighting, and hacks. All for a rebellion he didn't start.
His name is Richard Fawkes, the traitor's son with the traitor's name. But they call him Steel.
Click the link for more from the upcoming novel âNerves of Steel, inspired by Orwellâs 1984 and Atwoodâs Oryx and Crake. This is a thrilling YA sci-fi adventure with cyberpunk and political dystopia, that fans of the Hunger Games and Divergent will love. Now entered in the Wattys2016 and the #justwriteit challenge.

Sexism against men? Not real.
Heterophobia? Not real.
Racism against whites? Not real.
Sexist females? Not real.
Sexist or racist people of color? Not real.
Misandry? Not real.
Non racist white people? Not real.
Men being raped? Not real.
White women being raped? Not real.
Men being good parents? Not real.
These are things the patriarchy have said are real. But guess what? They arenât. They never will be. Accept it.
Please for the love of god tell me you are a troll...
Sexism against men IS real.. in fact scrolling through your blog it looks like you yourself are guilty of it, telling us that all men should be killed because someone held the door open for you... That is also misandry so yup that oneâs real too (also that thing you said about how women should be paid twice as much as men and I could go on...). Maybe we wouldnât call it sexism... but the issues men face in first world society are just as many and as big as those that women face. These issues may be different (some are the same) but they are real and if you really have as much compassion and care for your society as you claim by labelling yourself feminist then you would want to combat these issues.
How about the fact that men can go to prison for longer for the exact same crimes? In fact a new study at the University of Michigan found that it may be as much as 63% higher? Donât believe me? Have my source and a couple of other links too!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/11/men-women-prison-sentence-length-gender-gap_n_1874742.html
https://www.law.umich.edu/newsandinfo/features/Pages/starr_gender_disparities.aspx
https://goodmenproject.com/ethics-values/sentencing-gap-men-likely-go-prison-mrzs/
And along with this issue is the idea that we assume a rapist or serial killer will be male? How many male serial killers were constantly in the media? Richard Ramirez, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Jeffery Dahmer. The only one that instantly comes to mind for women is Aileen Wurnous and yet, female serial killers do exist!
How about the fact that fatherâs rights take very limited precedence compared to motherâs rights?
·        http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/07/paternity-registry/396044/
http://www.parenting.com/news-break/dad-fights-baby-given-adoption-without-his-consent
The men in the above links were forced to give up their own children who they loved and wanted to care for because under U.S. law a woman is able to put the child up for adoption without even informing him and he may never see his child again. A part of him, someone he loves, taken for ever. Oh but men canât be good fathers anyway right? Idiot.
·        And even without that, in a case where the parents are not or are no longer together 85% of custody rights go to the mother â even if the father wants to look after, love, support and raise his child.
Read more about that here: http://www.innocentdads.org/rights.htm
In some cases, men who have been raped by a woman are even made to pay 18 years of child support if she becomes pregnant.
Or to pay child support for a child he loves but is never given the chance to see or speak too. So he (rightfully) spends his money caring for his child but constantly has to worry if theyâre okay, how theyâre getting on. I call bullshit on that.
Of course paying child support is incredibly important for the childâs economic well being. But in these cases... I personally just struggle to agree with it. Rape victims should not have to support their attacker. Men should be allowed to see their child.
And while weâre on that subject? Options are available for women who do no wish to have their child. They can have an abortion or put it up for adoption. For a man, he is bound by his girlfriend or partnerâs decisions - which is great and perfectly fair since itâs her body. Right up until the child is born and he is obliged to pay his own wages for it, with or without his will to do so even if he is no longer with the girlfriend or partner in question. What if she forgot to take her pill? Or the condom broke? Why should he be bound by that economically for 18 years and emotionally for life?
And can we please leave out with the argument that if he canât afford a child or doesnât want one then he shouldnât be having sex? Everyone above the age of consent has the right to have sex with another consenting adult. It is a basic biological right. I donât want kids either. Iâm on the pill because quite frankly I enjoy sex. But it scares the shit out of me that if I fuck up I donât just screw myself over I screw over my boyfriend too, the person I love. Does that mean I shouldnât be allowed that intimacy and that pleasure? Not according to the law it doesnât.
How about the assumptions within society that men cannot face rape or abuse (oh wait: youâve provided me with evidence for that one yourselfâŠ). Weâll get to rape in a minute but what about domestic abuse?
http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/abuse/Pages/domestic-violence-against-men.aspx
According to the CDC, one in seven men age 18+ in the U.S. has been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in his lifetime. One in 10 men has experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner. Found out here: http://www.thehotline.org/2014/07/men-can-be-victims-of-abuse-too/ Thatâs one in seven. Christ.
That they cannot suffer from mental illness (and yet suicide and depression rates are particularly high in men, I could give you some personal examples like my own grandfather and my motherâs boyfriend of three years but anecdotal evidence isnât worth much in a debate so here have some more links). Â
·        The highest suicide rate in the UK in 2014 was for men aged 45-49 at 26.5 per 100,000. http://www.samaritans.org/about-us/our-research/facts-and-figures-about-suicide
·        In the US men die from suicide typically three to five times more often than women. The ratio of male to female teenage deaths is 3:1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_differences_in_suicide#United_States
·        And even despite this the help and support available to them is made less obvious.
the assumptions that ALL men are guilty just because of the negative actions of a few? (You again with your oh so catchy #killallmen).
And yes, I said a few. Because not all men are rapists (and indeed not all rapists are men). Can we also talk about the fact that approximately 90% of rape victims knew their attacker prior to the incident (and yes thatâs a statistic for both male and female rape victims, with both male and female attackers). So no, not all men are murderous uncontrollable lunatics who will attack you in the street. I am not saying that that makes the acts of these rapists any less evil or despicable, far from it. But it does go to show that the entire male gender is not constantly on a murderous raping rampage.
How about the stereotypes that men face? That they should not cry, that it is not okay to want a cuddle or a bit of TLC after a hard day at work, that they have to protect their wives or girlfriends but not get the same protection themselves? That they have to be big and bulky and strong? Men face the same issues in the media as women: unfair body standards.
·        Men are expected to be hyper masculine: muscled, chiselled, have abs and big biceps. It simply isnât realistic. http://www.doctornerdlove.com/2015/01/new-impossible-standards-male-beauty/ and this concept is everywhere: in video games and magazines, on TV and in movies, in adverts and online. And when perfectly healthy people like my own boyfriend (heâs a lanky twig) are worried about their weight just because they donât have abs, thereâs a problem.
·        The media is showing them that is how to behave. If you spend every day being told you arenât a man if you donât punch that guy, then you might listen. Stop demonising people and offer them alternate role models.
What about the issues that gay men still face just as gay women do? The recent Pulse club shooting should prove that to you if nothing else.
Now for the big one:
You wanna talk like that about rape too? Are you even serious right now?
First off: Do you actually now what rape is? Iâm going to assume not since youâre claiming men canât be a victim of it (or white women for that matterâŠ? As if the colour of your skin somehow changes anything?)
The definition of rape is this: unlawful sexual intercourse or any other sexual penetration of the vagina, anus, or mouth of another person, with or without force, by a sex organ, other body part, or foreign object, without the consent of the victim.
You will note that males have both anuses and mouths. And white women have all three! Therefore, they in fact can be raped! Gold stars all round! Now letâs talk about the men for a bit more since you seem to have toruble seeing them as human beings.
·        12,000 men are raped (I think per year) in England alone http://rapecrisis.org.uk/statistics.php
·        Here we have a different source stating 9,000 male rape victims https://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2013/jan/11/male-female-rape-statistics-graphic
So yup. Men can in fact be raped. Statistics not enough for you? Have some human faces put to it so you can see the personal effects of these crimes. These
·        Callum Carson was raped. Now heâs speaking out about the taboo and how hard it was to get help after the awful traumatic thing which happened to him. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/real-life-stories/victim-male-rape-reveals-struggle-6338305 A taboo which you are perpetrating by stating that men canât be raped. You are a part of the problem. Educate yourself.
·        Here are 19 men telling their overwhelmingly personal stories of being raped. Some were raped by girlfriends even after repeatedly saying no. Some were under the influence of drugs or alcohol and tried to resist but were unable to. Some were very young when it happened. Some were manipulated into it, told that if they didnât âIâll kill myselfâ and the like. ALL OF IT IS RAPE. Donât degrade them further by denying what was done to them. http://thoughtcatalog.com/lorenzo-jensen-iii/2014/08/19-men-share-stories-of-being-raped-by-a-woman-nsfw/ Warning: Very hard to read, NSFW, graphic in places.
·        A lot of the men in that article talk about the stigmas they faced. They felt unable to talk to anyone, even friends about it because men are supposed to be strong so how could they have been raped? Some felt betrayed by their own bodies because even when they refused to give consent they still had an erection. Some felt it was their own fault because theyâd been on a date with/theyâd been making out so if they gave that much consent it was all good right? Some felt incredibly guilty about what happened, even going so far as to believe they had cheated on their girlfriends. Some just lay back and let it happen because they were afraid if they fought back and left bruises on their attacker then they would be the ones to get in trouble. This is what true feminism needs to fight against. Equality for everyone. Disbanding these stigmas ad getting help available to those who need it.
I apologise if anything I have said here is factually wrong in any way â I can only show you what I have found out through my research and as you can see I have done my best to back up all of my opinions with some evidence from a variety of sources. You are of course entitled to your own beliefs, and since I think youâre probably a troll it is unlikely that you will ever listen to a word I have to say. But donât sit there preaching hate on more than half of the planet (all men AND all white people for example) for no goddamn reason. You have no evidence for any of your hurtful claims so why donât you sit back down? I love my father, my brother and my boyfriend. Donât you dare sit there and claim that other human beings, people with thoughts and feelings and opinions and lives and hopes and dreams and loves and families just like you donât at the very least deserve basic human rights and compassion.
And you deserve that too. Even if you have lost all hope for my respect today.
