10 years ago I could have 10 active tabs open and be fluently flipping between them.

I'd be having 5 conversations with school friends about 7 different dramas and arguments, scrolling and reblogging on Tumblr, writing smutty fanfiction, keeping an online journal, watching a YouTube video, doing Harry Potter Roleplays in 7 different chatrooms all at once, reading reviews on books, shopping on 3 different websites

And I'd be doing all of that, not getting distracted, just flipping between tabs and always knowing what I'm doing, always replying to the right conversations without forgetting what's what

And now I struggle to follow one text conversation

A lot of the time I don't even remember why I turned on my laptop and opened chrome so I shut it off again

I don't remember that skill fading though? I think it was when I got a job.

Unpopular Opinion and kinda irrelevant in today's lifestyle, but I saw nothing wrong in bending the corner of a book when a bookmark wasn't in sight.

I was always a mixture of pissed off and confused as to why I was being shouted at and scolded by friends and teachers for daring to ruin the pristine nature of the page I finished on by dog earring the corner. Truth be told, the extreme reactions pushed me to disregard any bookmark I actually owned altogether.

I loved signs of wear and tear on books I got from the library. Not deliberate damage, but the small careless marks made by previous people who had enjoyed the book. I spent as much time trying to imagine what the person had been feeling when they had to fold the corner at that particular plot twist and a slight smugness that nothing was forcing me to pause in my read.

I didn't mind the creases, the coffee drops or teary smudges, even the little rips in some pages. They kinda told a story themselves outside of the story told on the pages.
