Chapter 1: Feels Like You're Letting Your Hands Off the Wheel
— Post-Canon, Fix-It, Angst with a Happy Ending
Summary:
The music was blasting so loud that Katsuki completely missed the knock at the door, his only warning of a newcomer being Kirishima’s frenzied shout as he welcomed the man that Katsuki was most eager to evade.
"Midoriya! You made it after all!”
Katsuki felt his blood run cold. Izuku wasn’t supposed to be here; he told them weeks ago in an apologetic text that he would be busy all weekend grading final papers. His absence was the primary reason Katsuki decided to come. So why the fuck was he here?
~ Alternatively, several weeks following the events of chapter 431, Katsuki and Izuku meet again at a class party. Finally—and perhaps for the very first time—they have a real heart-to-heart.
Chapter 2: Baby, There’s No Drug Quite Like Denial
— Post-Canon, Fix-It, Angst with a Happy Ending
Summary:
There’s an uncomfortable silence as Izuku walks over, leaning his forearms upon the balcony, a silent invitation. Katsuki, against his much better judgment, joins him. “I was looking for you,” Izuku states to the wind.
“Well, you found me.” Katsuki hopes to finish this conversation quickly. Any opening he gets, he’ll take it. He faces forward too, mirroring the other man and looking out into the vast ocean so he doesn’t have to confront the evergreen forest beside him.
“Yeah, I did,” Izuku says, and his voice sounds so soft it makes Katsuki’s eyes sting and his throat close. This feeling, this weakness, was all Katsuki’s fault. He’s the idiot who assumed Izuku would say yes in the first place. He’s the fool who misread all the signs and believed what he wanted to believe: that he was still special to Izuku.
A redraw of a previous post of mine that I wanted to refresh for the anime's final episode (had this planned for episode 170 all the way back in December but I got a little sidetracked and put this on the backburner for a while)

reason im frowning today: people always think of izuku as the more emotional out of the two when it's always been katsuki. whenever izuku cries it was always warranted, but when katsuki lashes out its often disproportionate to the situation and confuses people around him. im not sure why expressing anger is rarely considered as being emotional, but it's this exact mindset that makes people incorrectly portray katsuki as uncaring and emotionless.
he's emotionally constipated, sure. but katsuki? being nonchalant? dont make me laugh. he is THE chalant.

The thunderous waves crashing onto the rocky shore nearly drown out the music blasting inside the cabin. The only sign that the party was still going strong came from the heavy thrum of the bass igniting a pleasant hum through the floorboards.
Katsuki closes his eyes and takes a deep breath in through his nose and holds it for a few beats before blowing out through his mouth steadily. He wracks his brain for any other tactic he can employ to steady the relentless drum beat emanating from deep within his chest.
As he opens his eyes slowly, he focused on the bright forms of white light dancing across the water as far as his eyes can see, reflecting the dazzling full moon overhead. He looks down at his shaking hands, only then realizing he forgot his gloves inside. Oh well, he thought, at least I got out of there.
Katsuki wasn’t prepared to see Izuku for the next few weeks, let alone only a few days after he inadvertently broke Katsuki’s heart. He instantly felt his nerves skyrocket when his childhood friend casually waltzed in through the front door looking as charming as ever in dark jeans and a deep brown winter sweater, cheeks flushed around a warm and infectious smile.
Red eyes quickly darted down as Katsuki realized the teacher’s gaze moving towards him; shamefully unable to meet those green eyes just yet. That’s when Katsuki noticed Uraraka tightly wrapped around Izuku’s left arm, a matching warm smile gracing her rosy cheeks.
The moment that information registered in Katsuki’s sober mind, he felt like he was out of his body, watching himself from above. So, in lieu of spilling the contents of his lunch on the charcuterie board perfectly displayed in front of him, Katsuki turned and opened the door to the balcony.
He desperately needed the space, and perhaps the fresh air would help clear his mind from all the pain that comes with anguish of the heart. At least he could place it now, after years of living on auto-pilot and ignoring all the obvious warning signs for the sake of their friendship, the emotion he feels is heartache.
Naturally, he would much rather converse with the stars than face the man who crushed his heart without even realizing it.
izuku had the luxury of slowly falling in love with kacchan over the years as they grew up and navigated hero work together. he started subconsciously imitating kacchan since childhood, but only recently started doing so with the conscious effort to emulate his heroic vigor.
meanwhile, kacchan unceremoniously stumbled into love with izuku, the realization coming directly after he risked his life to save izuku, reminding him of how Izuku had done the same countless times. and when kacchan’s ‘body moved on it’s own’, that was the first moment of imitation on kacchan’s part, and now he can’t stop his mind from wandering into the likelihood that his initial feelings of animonisty for the nerd was all a mask he put on to hide his real feelings of adoration and awe.
Remember how Suzaku and Lelouch were such a power duo that the writers needed to do everything they could to stop them from teaming up, because the moment they did they successfully achieved world domination in like 2 episodes
I imagine this panel will be what Horikoshi calls back to when Deku looks down at Katsuki’s lifeless body on the ground covered in blood. And similar to how Katsuki brought Deku out of the rubble, Deku will bring Katsuki out of the rubble and back home.
If there’s one thing Horikoshi is definitely going to use Bakugou’s current state for it’s as a catalyst for Deku to go absolutely feral. He might even make it be the final end-all if Deku really truly think’s Kacchan is dead. Just trust in his process of making everything about that pairing, ship or not.
Oooo what if Madaly’s message to Deku about the fight and how Katsuki is hurt is going to come through during Deku’s fight but he never gets any updates??
