I think the funniest thing that's been said to me by an angry Kata.ang fan who was mad I said it was giving off insecurity that they're constantly blowing up our comment sections and fighting with us on our own posts when their ship is canon is that "Zutara fans are a tiny irrelevant minority that is dying and contributes nothing to the fandom."

Like girl the literal voice actors for both characters were Zutara shippers. The best writers on the show were pushing for Zutara endgame. Even some of the animators were in on the conspiracy to romantically code them in the subtleties of their body language and facial expressions.

They invented ship week. They inspired multiple book series. They are the most popular pairing on the world's largest fanfiction website by a wide margin (for ATLA specifically). Like 80% of the female fans prefer it over the canon pairing.

The creators are so insecure about it that they felt the need to nuke and retcon the canon of Katara and Zuko being best friends because their canon pairing is so weak that it would be blown out of the water by just platonic Zutara because of how much interpersonal chemistry they had in the show compared to their canon pairings. They have to be kept 5 feet apart at all times so that no one gets any ideas because they are THAT insecure over the continued popularity of Zutara.

Totally irrelevant and contributes nothing. Okay. Can only assume they're new here.

More vatling hcs that's been floating around my brain:

- the speaker system on the vat is usually off save for announcements, but Stratt noticed that many had trouble adjusting to living on a ship with no clear timezone and started playing white noise every morning and night to help the crew adjust (birdsong to wake them/soft instrumentals at night)

- but one morning (well after April Fools) the entire ship woke to sea shanties blasting through the system (Ilyukhina swears she had nothing to do with it cause why would she ever disturb her own precious hours of rest, Stratt gave her a look but dismissed her, while somewhere on the ship, Hatch was bent over laughing over his success)

- when first arriving on the vat, it can be hard for vatlings to adjust to the rise and fall of the waves beneath them, but after a while it becomes easier to walk and work even during rough waters

- that doesn't stop the sea sickness, though, after a particularly bad storm much of the crew was left incapacitated and nauseous including Eva (who would never admit it, but for once replaced her third cup of coffee with ginger tea), Grace (who couldn't stomach anything longer than half an hour), and Lokken (Grace finds her doubled over and in a rare moment of civility held her hair back as she threw up in a Petrova Task Force sickness bag)

- that experience was so terrible that Lamai ended up developing an anti-nausea medication that didn't induce drowsiness (which was promptly sold to Big Pharma to help support the vatjectives)

- when the next storm arrives, she is hailed a hero and employee of the month (ending Grace's three month streak)

- there are two universal truths of Stratt's Vat: one, the vatccent posses all, and two, no matter how strong your core strength is, the curse of sea legs comes for all

- after months of not stepping on stable land, the flight crew and the primary team of the PTF are invited to a last minute gala mainly for pr sake (much to the chagrin of Eva) which of course meant relearning how to walk on dry land in their hotel rooms

- it was much easier for some more than others, years of training gave the astronauts an advantage (though that did not stop Shapiro and DuBois from holding the other up, if anything it gave them an excuse), but the primary team, however, struggled to keep their balance straight

- if you were to analyze the pictures taken that night, you'd notice how the second in command kept a steady arm hooked around his Director, the two rarely apart when standing (for all her capabilities, heels and sea legs do not mix well)

- each part of the vat is given a notice board to place complaints and requests, but over time this evolved into being a space to post pictures taken of one another, and a silent competition formed of vatlings attempting to take the most candid photo of each other

- many photos of crew members sleeping in wild positions or even on top each other are posted (including a flight crew dog pile, redell and lokken after a long day of testing a mini astrophage-powered centrifuge, and one posted by Carl who, during a traffic pile up after yet another meeting with some world power, snapped a selfie of Ryland and Eva asleep in the back seat, Ryland's head on Eva's shoulder, who in turn rested her own head on his)

- that photo went missing soon after, tucked away in a certain office drawer containing a fox charm and rosary

- a cat somehow ended up on board the ship and was only discovered hours after it sailed from harbour by a poor member of security who thought he could escape his allergies, only to be assaulted by cat fur

- he failed to capture the animal, and hours later it is found sleeping and huddled up in Eva's office under her desk

- it quickly grew on her, and the vat did have some loose mice running around so she allowed it to stay

- Grace named it Sol since it was perfectly orange, but no one realized it was pregnant until Lamai caught a rare sight of it while giving a report to Eva

- she ended up giving birth to three healthy kittens right under Eva's desk, and votes were held throughout the ship to name them

- the white one was unsurprisingly named Luna, the black kitten was named Astro for its fiesty personality and love for biting people, and the orange one was originally named Garfield since it was mistaken as a boy

- but as it grew it became obvious as being the sole girl in the litter, and after spending so much time around Eva grew an attachment to the woman, and a running joke was spread of the kitten being like her daughter, where the name Eve quickly spread and was adopted

- the four cats now roam the ship and were given the official title of chief mice repellent

- Sol now rests in Grace's room the most, Luna in the break room, Astro in Little Russia, while Eve remains in Stratt's office and room, often making an appearance during her online meetings

JEAN GRAHAM FINCH PERSONAL HEADCANONS

Fun fact, I AM the biggest Jean Finch lover. The only one too, but that’s beside the point. For those don’t know, Jean Graham Finch is Atticus’s wife in the book who sadly passed way. Girly is mentioned about twice which means that this is like a purely headcanoned character, but I don’t care. She’s my favorite little guy.

Trigger Warnings - I don’t think there should be any? Uhhh, just mentions of racism (SHE’S NOT RACIST BTW, ITS JUST MENTIONED)

Learned to make her own clothes and stays fashionable regardless of being on the poor side

LOVES a good fight with the gossips, always wanted to fight Miss Stephanie Crawford

Used to wear trousers when she rode horses on her family farm, but was proud she knew how to ride in a skirt/dress when needed

Loved jazz music and the Harlem Renaissance, but had to hide it cause racist Alabama

Strong fighter for rights

Miss Stephanie talked to some of the town women and it even made it back to Atticus about Jean being a (Respectful African-American Brother) lover and Jean was LIVID that Stephanie would say that in such a disrespectful manner

Was so passive-aggressive to Stephanie afterwards but never slapped her like she wanted to

Was not a huge fan of Alexandra but was civil, was much closer to Jack though she still rarely saw him

Struggled with high blood pressure her whole life which caused her heart attack

It took a while for her to convince Atticus to marry her (Not that he didn’t love her, he just wanted to be completely sure without a shadow of a doubt)

Had a softer Linda McCartney-esque to her features

Her favorite color was purple

Was so hyped when short hair came into fashion

Left her family behind after her father died and her mother sold the farm, she moved into Montgomery and worked as a stenographer

Snuck out of her home to join suffragette protests as a teenager

She never really enjoyed cooking, but she could make a mean chicken pot pie

Quickly befriended Miss Maudie when they finally met and regularly helps out in her garden

A yapper with undiagnosed ADHD cause it’s the 1920s

Was an EXPERT at feigning politeness when talking to rude older people, mainly cause she’d kind of just zone out till they’d ask a question and she’d come up with a quick response

Whenever she gets flustered she’ll usually stand stunned for a couple moments and then start nervously laughing

Regularly gets too hot when sleeping and sleeps on top of the covers

Really enjoys reading, but struggles with finding anything interesting (R.I.P Jean, I know you would’ve loved the rise in YA fiction)

Actually quite liked the hustle and bustle of Montgomery cause it seemed so alive to her. But she hated the extreme racism and missed the countryside every so often.

Whenever her and Atticus visited Jack in Boston, she was fascinated with the city

Continued to work as a stenographer when she moved to Maycomb with Atticus

I love the modern Atticus headcanons! About Jem being a Boy Scout, yes! But also I feel like Scout (ironically) would insist on being one too. Nowadays I think the Boy Scouts is mixed gender, but if we go with a Scout troop or Cub pack a few years back when they only allowed boys in, I could 100% see Jem and Dill being full members of the group, while Scout tags along too in the uniform taking part in the activities as an unofficial member!

Thank you so much for the love! I can absolutely see Scout getting mad when she’s a bit older about not being able to fully join the Boy Scouts and Jem rubbing it in her face (slightly). Atticus is like “Maybe you can become a Girl Scout! They do some cool stuff too!” And Scout is like I WANNA BE AN EAGLE SCOUT. Maybe she would even eventually join the Girl Scouts but still be a little salty about it. Miss Maudie also gives girl scout vibe, but like hardcore Girl Scout. Like she went to ALL of the events and sold the MOST cookies. Love her so much.

I was fairly young when I was writing everything for the fandom so maybe I need to write and draw some more updated stuff 🫩
